imo the best option they have for the next game is to overhaul the movesets or add more to the existing ones. like these dlc characters all have gimmicks and s***. add that to the OG rosters.

people just have to accept the next games roster will be smaller. it's inhumane to think they must replicate this kind of roster for the next game.

they definitely can and will cut characters. Sakurai himself said this was pretty much a labour of love.

Do normal people scream like this for game reveals? I never got that. I get being excited and happy, or emotional even, but screaming like a maniac seems excessive. S***, when the Elden Ring trailer finally dropped this summer I was just silently appreciating it. Then again I was on the toilet at work, but still. i disagree because really after 89 characters you're not going to tell me that at least a few of them play fairly similarly. Especially in a 2D fighting game where you're more restricted in movesets based on that alone. Sure the moves may look different or flashier but the essence of them are the same.

Plus DLC characters got counters galor.

there's still SO many characters people want in a smash game. in a a new one they can just go hard on newcomers.

i honestly think next smash should go back to a tight roster. smash is such a cool unique thing for a medium, kind of like an interactive hall of fame, but this s***s near 100 characters lmao

Min Min, Pythia, and Sora are mad hype

Pass was pretty good

Steve is the only one I recognized as someone under the age of 27 who doesn’t live with their parents

As a 28 year old man who lives on my own and works an accounting job plus enjoys videogames, I recognized every single character in fighters pass 2 and all in fighters pass 1 except for Terry and Byleth. But I knew where Byleth and Terry came from. Like obviously I know what Fire Emblem and SNK is.

Sora is inconic, Sephiroth is iconic. Both Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy are considered two of the best franchises of all time. If you are playing smash Bros and don’t know what Tekken is, that’s a problem. Tekken is one of the best fighting game series of all time and that’s where Kazuya is from. Min Min and Pyra/Mythra are understandable to not know but they are from modern Nintendo Switch games.

I will say I have played all these franchises except Final Fantasy though so I’ve seen these characters playing the games but this fighters pass (minus the two Nintendo first party characters) are some of the most recognizable videogame characters in the world.

Minecraft fans be like I don’t live in my moms basement like you guys.

“Minecraft fans” isn’t a specific group of people to me i would estimate 80% or more of people my age in the US have played minecraft

I unironically think fortnite jonesy would have been a really great dlc fighter
