It’s so sad to see a game that’s so monumental and a celebratory victory lap to video games be muted like this. Ultimate has only had 1 Evo winner, and probably will so for the inevitable future

It seems promising. People saying “smash killer” is dumb though, let it be it’s own thing. Which in all honesty, seems to be doing a good job at. Good online, recognizable characters, goofy mechanics, and rewards system os gonna have people coming back frequently if they keep the level of quality up. It can be played 1v1, but is primarily focused on 2v2, which may make or break it for some people, and some characters are supposedly not great to play in 1v1 at all.

It being free is a huge boost, I can definitely see this game going far with the level of support it has. Nickelodeon had passionate devs, but not the budget. Smash had the budget, but it’s owned by Nintendo. I think this will occupy a very nice middle of the road lane in the future.

Now that smash discussion is gone though, all those YouTube smash theorists moved to WB lmao

Agreed I don't think this will flop like the playstation game

I haven't really caught up the game but if it's primarily 2v2 focused I'm not sure I like that since I really like playing 1v1 on smash

I've been so close to elite smash so many times. I keep getting matches with bullshit items. No point in skill. It's just who gets all the pokeballs and assists first.

I have gotten 1 match out of 9 with no items.

I love this game but I hate this game if I'm trying to be competitive. Because it's like 75% luck now

Online is a grab bag. You can set your preferences to 1 vs 1 I'm pretty sure but it won't matter. You just get what matches you get now

Makes elite smash damn near impossible if you get matches with bullshit random things like items.

If melee has the characters / maps / online capabilities that ultimate had, would you guys still play ultimate?

I recently got back into smash, and to me I just feel like melee is far and away the best smash game. The physics just seem so much better, and the recoveries just make so much more sense imo.

What do you guys think?

But when I saw the trailer, that one got me. Eyes got a bit wet on that one.

He was my second most wanted character so i was definitely geeking when he got announced

very floaty, felt very much in line with how the KH games play as well in terms of his move set. It like feels like a kingdom hearts play style

Yeah I wasn't sure how they were gonna put him in, but if they can get Minecraft then Sora was a breeze lmao.

They even gave him the KH2 outfit and my heart grew 3 sizes that day.
I love playing him online. Im not good at smash but I do pretty well as Sora for the most part.

Joker and Sora were my most wanted. It's kind of insane I got them both.

I don't think I ever need another smash game just because they'll probably never be able to bring them all back. I can play this one forever. I'm good with it.

Piranha Plant was the perfect “I never knew i wanted this character this badly but now i know”

My personal number one most wanted was Master Chief but i knew that was a long shot so i’m okay with that not happening overall.

When sephiroth (another character i didn’t know i wanted that much) was announced i was convinced there would be no Sora in this game but then they squeezed him in.

I think their DLC fighters had been mostly great with a character or two i would personally switch out for others but still i can’t say that they didn’t make great play styles for this game.

I need to try plant sometime. It's crazy I've played this game for years and still haven't really messed too hard with most of them

Kazuya is that character for me I wasn't expecting and ended up liking. Him and Richter.

very true. What’s funny is i feel the hours i have with plant is more hours then i have ever played as Mario in any Mario series game lol maybe not totally sure.

I heard Persona is good, haven’t played that yet but Joker is a lot of fun to play as in Smash tbh

Persona 5 was my first game in the series and it is awesome.

It's kind of like Pokemon mixed with final fantasy combat mixed with Japanese high school anime.

If any of those games appeal to you I would recommend 100%.

I haven't gotten good with Joker yet. But I'm working on it.

The one character I've been getting wrecked by recently is pyra. Apparently she's pretty good because people have been slaughtering with her recently
