It also already wasn’t tracking well before reviews and impressions came out in the first place
Didnt need to be a smash at the box office just make its money back while dc rebuilds its brand.
Would be worse if this was a wonder woman movie that was mid and flopped
The issue is that it apparently just isnt a good movie, if it was good nothing else matters
Nah they coulda waited on this one fr, especially with establishing the universe.
Supergirl is around the same level as Falcon, you need to do the groundwork before you run those type of movies
It’s horror and the budget is only $40 million . It’ll make a nice profit for sure
It of course won’t make $500+ million or something like that . But it should be a nice win for DC
I hope so
But I’m a little worried it goes the way of the Sony Spider-Man villain movies
Clayface is such an obscure character, and it’s not being led by any big-name actor
But who knows, with Obsession doing what it did and Clayface being a body horror film releasing in October, maybe it’s a surprise hit and does way better than anyone expects it to
I see tweets like this and think what if the Batman part two ends up being bad? I don’t think it will, but this is just a hypothetical. Are these people going to have a mental breakdown?
Normally, yes this is true, but DC is in a very unique position. They still tryna wipe off the stink of the DCEU with general audiences. That’s why I think they should’ve played it safe for their first few films. Establish new & better iterations of the characters that the DCEU royally f***ed up so audiences know it’s a new regime
Im telling you if this was their flagship character it was trashed, it would be a bigger problem than a supergirl movie
Would’ve had the same writer
No lie I just saw that stated in a video about the flash development hell same time as I saw your reply lmaoooo
I would love that
Im telling you if this was their flagship character it was trashed, it would be a bigger problem than a supergirl movie
Would that be a bigger problem? Yes.
Does that mean Supergirl getting bad reviews and not making any money isn’t a problem? No.
Even if it was a flagship character’s movie getting trashed, it most likely would’ve still made them a bit of money since it’s a popular character
Man of Tomorrow is gonna do fine
The challenge with building a universe is getting people to care about and show up for all of the ancillary character-led films
Right now Supergirl looks DOA
Clayface looks like a good film, but it’s most likely not gonna make that much money
Outside of that, they have zero other films with an actual release date after Man of Tomorrow
It seems like they have Superman figured out but everything else is kind of up-in-the-air at the moment
I still think starting with TV shows so early was a mistake
EDIT: Forget release dates, I just realized they don’t even have any movies post-Man of Tomorrow that are anywhere close to filming right now
How would you know they’re not close to filming something for after MoT lol? They said they know what’s next…

The Sony films all had $100+ million budgets, were written to be campy 2000s type films, and were ugly af
The horror genre is pretty low risk, high reward because of their modest budgets and faithful core audience.
It’s dropping right before Halloween, looks creepy af, and it’s not super expensive.
I have high hopes Clayface will do pretty well
disastrous opening weekend imminent
no longevity bc better movies next few weeks
james gunn getting fired
Schizophrenia

Not saying supergirl isnt a problem especially since the writer is going on to do wonder woman and titans.
But even if a wonder woman solo was trashed but made some money, the brand damage would be catastrophic

They really want DC to be nothing but Batman movies

Then what another DC reboot where we get MAGA Paramount Superman?
No thanks

None of the films after MoT have had casting announced or release dates announced. Earliest we’re looking at right now for the next DCU film after MoT is early 2028

Dudes just a troll

I don’t think so tbh. Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 didn’t get great reviews, and that didn’t stop the MCU’s momentum at all. Same with BvS, DCEU wasn’t really a laughingstock until Suicide Squad
denial
Man of tomorrow soon
Cope!

Which was only 5 months after BvS mind you

Gotta think about the landscape of things tho.
DCU right after the DCEU failure is in a difficult position compared to the MCU just starting. Batman v Superman bombing even tho it made money was the start of the end for the DCEU.
If something similar to that happens where a new batman or wonder woman bombs like that with the bad rep DC already has it...its over
