It’s not over but not having a clear plan with writers and directors attached that don’t feel like props risk getting us to same place as DCEu. It’s not even about doing Batman Wonder Woman Superman right away because his idea of doing various stories could work if there was plan

He did all that talking about legging DC be driven by creators then fumbled Luca and micro managed Craig (who should have never gotten the gig)

If you’re gonna do the creatives route it just is kinda the antithesis of doing an MCU type thing. The movies that stick out like someone had some creative say behind the scenes are an anomaly not the norm they just happen to be pretty successful (I wonder why) and get franchises from the risk taken.

Which is why Lanterns will prob be great bc it’s seemingly pretty much doing its own thing led by a strong creative team and vision

You can’t say we’re finna have strong creatives and hire yes men. You need a Luca type, a Gunn type, a Coogler, a Cretton. Someone with an actual passion for the movie and genre

I mean Its why I directly said having the HEAD OF DCU the Kevin Feige be the same as the director of The Superman movie is a trick we have seen done before with Zack Snyder. Yes Zack Snyder was imperfect but one of the central issues was having too much on his plate. responding to press, laying out plan, communicating with fans, directing and to some degrees writing or taking credit for creative decision making. As well as casting. James Gunn is also doing TOO F***ING MUCH. Then add in giving Tom King so much power

When it should be Okay "Craig you want to make a Supergirl movie what is your pitch" Then work with him to get that pitch to fit into the DCU . Its a joint project. It cant be micromanage. It cant be you got bro saying he doesnt care about the comic like that and then ai concept art. S*** even Tom King in Lanterns. It has to be let the creatives speak about their work. We have barely heard Lindelof speak on Lanterns. You got to let the directors and writers present their work.

Not be hiring writers who have never written a major movie. S*** call Michelle Maclaren. Call Rick Famuiya both people who got laid off of DCEU. Really make it feel like you care about creating a shared universe.

Hiring an unproven writer to make three movies off the strength of her pitches making everyone hype

Seeing the unproven writers first movie and realizing how stupid that decision is

I think the stark lack of development on anything other than clayface and Gunn direct properties is very vest telling. The latter being a very bad look lmao

I get he’s a workhorse so I do respect it but bro take a step back and work on the shared uni if you wanna be the big guy

I dont get he is a workhorse because just like Snyder he is the one who decided to give himself this much to do and micromanage while directing movies. When he first announced he was even directing superman legacy he made it sound reluctant like " I wasnt going to direct this but a story felt right for me to direct so I will direct this then step back a little and let others cook. " Now he dropping their two movies basically back to back because supergirl was whatever and he micromanaged it. Form a team of directors and writers you trust and cook . If you cant do that then what are you doing. You shouldnt be skipping comic con when you need to drop a plan

He didnt fumble Luca, Luca just couldnt do it because he directing hella movies (like 5 movies ?) and the schedule didn't line up

And he didnt micro manage Craig, Craig made a bad movie and he himself understood that it was bad then that's when Gunn came in trying to fix it. If anything he didnt manage Craig enough

I’m riding for DC, I don’t think it’s all over and it would be ridiculous if it was but there’s def some growing pains it seems atm. Having Luca direct a movie on some auteur s*** would have done a lot for them and it seems like they were banking on it to some degree when the initial slate and momentum were revealed

Just seems like they having issues over there which is normal

I mean its safe to assume the script also went through changes since his first viewing.

But granted that does worry me

Growing pains is natural, it also just how visible everything is about the dcu with scoop culture and gunn doesnt help himself by talking so much

Sgt rock not dead in the water yet, they'll probably revist it when Luca schedule clears up

Own so many of your characters which much less rights issues than Marvel. Many comic writers alive. Many actors and directors saying "I would love to work on a superhero movie" . Yet we in 2026 discussing Waller, Sgt Rock and Paradise Lost. After a Supergirl with a full promotional campaign of "she doesnt care she is an alcoholic this is her heroes journey" with her introduction being called the hero you showed throughout the movie a b**** .

Then carrying over the goofy dog and trying to evoke "oh no does the dog die " emotions. Being out classed in a minute of meeting a pet rock alien

James Gunn has directly said he made tweaks man. He decided the final needle drop and you think he gave some full creative freedom when it was his choice to adapt woman of tomorrow at all ? By a script not written by Craig but by a person Gunn put there as an adaptation of Tom KIng?

  • Aug 14

Its not all on Gunn by any means but acting like he is giving these people creative freedom is insulting to intelligence

You guys keep keep saying this but are missing the part where he only got involved AFTER the movie was testing poorly and Craig himself said its not working.

I never said full creative freedom, but why are we acting like the script is absolutely with 100% certainty the same script from when Gunn saw it to the one that got released ?
