Some points make sense. I don't buy it all yet but we'll see....

It does seems like China is positioned to slow burn a blockade Taiwan. These new drills could easily create a new norm of permanent Chinese encirclement of Taiwan and they'll slowly begin to mess with their trade (they are doing this already), communication with other nations, closer military drills than ever, etc... The dividing line the PLA typically toys with is completely breached now and what's stopping them?

They're already sounding alarm bells. China has cut some trade, blocked entire flight zones and encircle their country. Btw China is Taiwan's biggest trading partner at nearly 1/3rd of imports so any major sanctions or blockade could cripple them.
