ValentineI think he just disliked FATD and everything surrounding the roll out since all this happened right after. But why would he feel a way about that if he wasn't jealous/insecure? Drake didn't send any shots at him and Cole and Drake talking their s*** isn't come cardinal sin. They're rappers. Why would that make him mad or irk him?
You're also getting something wrong: there's nothing wrong with feeling envious/jealous over someone. Those are emotions we've all felt at some point over someone. It's what you do with those emotions that matter.
On Buried Alive interlude, Kendrick explained how he saw Drake's success up close and felt triggered because they were around the same age and yet, Drake was so far ahead of him and he channeled that energy into making great music that ended up elevating his own career. That's what you're supposed to do.
I don't believe Kendrick isn't envious of Drake's success and dominance (every rapper is, regardless of what they might say). I also think Drake would love it if he had the same kind of acclaim and cultural acceptance Kendrick has. Ain't nothing wrong with them two feeling that way about each other. The difference is that Drake didn't jump out and diss Kendrick as a result of how he might have felt about him. He focused on himself and remained dedicated to his craft and the work. Kendrick saw Drake and Cole doing what they're supposed to do and instead of him just getting active as well and asserting his place in the game like they were doing, he dissed them because he knew that was the easier thing to do.

Okay that's fine..imo this is very telling about his mental space when he made that track: friendly competition, BUT, like you mentioned, rappers in general are mad sensitive (Clipse and Wayne beefing over BAPE, outside of Birdman not paying for a beat), then you just got the intent getting lost in translation (Big Sean and Dot almost went at each other because of this too), so Dot clarifying the intent might be seen as p****. I don't think it is, but I get it.
I think from Drake's perspective, he just feels like if you're gonna say certain things on wax, actually mean them or at least follow through on what you say. I don't think Drake expected Kendrick to see him and start a fight but don't drop that Control verse and then try and be buddy buddy like it never happened. The backlash from rappers is the whole reason why the song never dropped officially anyways (I believe Big Sean revealed that Kendrick's camp refused to clear the song after it leaked and caused all that noise).

Most rappers called on the tracks had no problems, it was mostly rappers that werent called that were mad such as lupe and fred the godson that were "upset" they werent named because most rappers took the naming as a claim of a "big dog"
Control didnt get cleared because of its sample
Big Sean was proud of the song until everyone kept thinking it was Kendricks song and kept bringing it up like that in multiple interviews
The only one that was hurt by it was Drake - while everyone else either responded online like Mac & Tyler or in song like Krit and Push - and then others joked abiut it like Cole & Wale
No one saw it as animosity besides Drake & Jay Electronica - and its why they were both seen as ridiculous for it
S*** like Control has happened in Rap before such as Banned From TV - it was never taken serious - besides niggas that didnt like each other already (such as LL and Canibus)
