Especially for one with Spies, plus we get enough character development for Andrei and Kat for the film to work emotionally, we don't need to be attached to Protag and Neil, I was still attached to them just becxause they're cool af
Protag is so motherfucking cool to me
Relaxed and in control at all times.
What does it mean to be inverted?
Flow of time is reversed.
We normal percieve time moving forward, so if you encounter objects or people that are inverted, we percieve that as moving backwards in time.
However, If yourself is inversion, the time are flowing backwards but you are actual moving in real time.
???? Are u serious? So you don't grade action movies on how much your invested into the characters? Just on action I assume?
How invested i am in a character is very different from character development throughout a story. I don’t need the hero in an action movie to have a mental breakdown or fall in love / become a new person by the end of the film.
Btw it was really funny to me that Sator wanted to commit suicide via a CIA pill, that only would’ve put him in a coma for a few months

If the character isn't well developed and somewhat relatable you won't care about them like you would one that is. Which lowers the stakes of said action movie. Take luke in the original trilogy for ex. Perfect example of a protagonist
Pretty good observation from a reddit user:
When you realized the reason blue and red in TENET
is because of red symbolize artery, going forward time and blue symbolize vein, the backward flowing (inversion) of blood back to heart, and together flowing as a full never ending cycle like a Mobius strip.
Lack of character development is such a s*** critique for an action film imo
I feel thats a s***ty critique for any movie, not just action.
The most important thing is to be transformed and changed as a viewer.
Like what is the character devellopment in "no country for old men" or "mulholland drive"?
Does it mean they are bad movies?

Most Kubrick films barely have any character development + the lack of character development is often one of the main themes in his films. And Kubrick made some of the best films oat so.
Yeah, the film’s runtime felt so short, I would’ve expected it to be a half hour longer — gives us more time to better understand who Protagonist is.
imax only allowing for 2.5 hours really held it back in that aspect

Wdym? That only applies to how much was actually shot in that format, correct? The entire thing wasn’t...right?? If so I’m tight my local 70mm IMAX got rid of their projectors

iirc the whole thing was shot on 70mm but not 100% sure

Facts
This was more Mission Impossible than 007
Inception 2nd and 3rd layer were 007
id agree, heavy mission impossible vibes, but at the same time also had james bond vibes imo

Word!!! People don't undersea nd that character development doesn't necesseraly have to be done through characters speaking or having flashbacks
If you like watching character driven movies with paper thin characters, more power to you.
