Gorgeous project
Unconditionally British, unconditionally 1975. No compromises.
I think it's their best music, it's just not served to the listener on a silver platter. Long transitions, abrupt interludes, eclectic, a variety of genres and it's long as f***. But at the end it's just a very rewarding listen.
The growth this band had since self titled. wow.
this is british excellence? it’s horrible lol
iv come to the conclusion that it just drags on way to long. Alot of songs couldve been trimmed or even cut
Yeah I'm not even the type to be turned off by a 75+ minute album, but it has to keep my attention. This failed to do that

I enjoyed all of their previous material too. At the end of my first listen i felt kinda destroyed because i didnt like it has some great moments imo tho
I knew Matty talked about this having the UK-garage, dance influence
but damn 6 or 7 tracks?!?!
Matty is aware that the band is big enough to put out EPs/side projects whenever the f*** they want if they want to explore more dance or ambient stuff? I think they do add to the texture of their albums or whatever but this was overkill
the length and cohesion of their albums have always been suspect but omg it's like they picked the names of the songs out of a hat
the first 5 tracks are sequenced terribly, actually the whole first half I was waiting for the album to end I can't even lie
this is british excellence? it’s horrible lol
not saying it's perfect or excellence.
I'm saying it's a really British record from Brit Pop to UK Garage.
After 2 full listens I’m sitting on a 5/10
Some really strong highlights in a sea over over bloated mess, really sad to hear it be like this after how much I enjoyed their last album
Really liked it but could've done without most of the instrumental tracks
And the last two songs werent too good imo
The girl who was falsely accusing someone of leaking the album, illegally downloaded an Apple Music exclusive behind the scenes of the making of this album
People have double standards
a lot of filler so far, I'm on not even done my first listen yet
The End

Yeah I Know
easily could have been cut
the actual tracks are decent for the most part (except for The 1975)
am on Jesus Christ 2005 right now, I have a feeling the second half of the record is better than the first
Yeah I Know is top tier though!
Album is great throughout the first 14 or so tracks so far. Ya'll some normies tbh. Idk how you can like the sounds of the last album and come out thinking this is trash
Hot take: First half the album is better than the second half.
Personally I’d have to disagree
Cmon now it's obvious this album is full of inspiration from other genres
Don't be mad
You can hear Jamie XX, Jon Hopkins, Bon Iver in some of the songs.
But they are putting their own twist on everything and that's what makes The 1975 special to me. You never know in what direction the next song is going to go.
HOW ARE THEY PUTTING THEIR OWN TWIST OF IT WHEN I CAN BLATANTLY HEAR THEM BORROWING FROM THAT SONG
S*** is a 4/10, at least some of the mixing and production is ok, but they r biting more than actually being original here
i loved A Brief Inquiry (the album that made me a fan) and was so hype for this, didn't listen to any singles beforehand
I have no highlights off of my first listen. Can't even remember how most of them sound. People and Tonight are really the only ones that stuck...
It's not -bad- music. They don't make bad music. But A Brief Inquiry and the way Matty sells his vision really heightened my expectations. Def gonna give it more listens and see if it grows. Also need to read along with the lyrics, because in my opinion that's where the band shines.
Good description, I definitely agree with you even though I liked the album. Even if this is “bad” by others, I still feel they never have made bad music in their career.
