Yea like the bon iver influence is too similar, but I mean they did that on ABIIOR with the bon iver vocal effects and stuff. I think this is the point in their career where they are trying to figure out what sound they want to have in the future.

It’s kinda like they are starting out as a band again with more experience making songs.

I'm sure some of it will grow, ILIWYS took time to grow on me too. A Brief Inquiry is the only album I really love by them.

I think I'll probably like the tracks more if they pop up in shuffle or something. I hope lol

There is way more going on here than on A Brief Inquiry. I think it's a more than fair critique to not like the sound of the album

I would like to think that, but as a band your voice shouldn’t be guided by making a million different genres of songs and expecting one thing to land and not thinking other tracks are going to falter

I'm not sure about saying an artist is ripping off Bon Iver EVERY time a prismizer appears on a song. It's getting tired lol

Prismizer is to Autotune is to Talkbox. The effects are there for everyone to use in their own way

After three/four listens unfortunately It's not growing on me

First impression was more than Okay but I expected it to grow on me like crazy

But I feel what you're saying about the intro. I actually hate and LOVE that move. Love it because Matty/the band just does whatever the f*** they want and that's cool. And it's important and they stand for s***. Consistently and unapologetically. That makes it pretty bold and admirable to me.

But also I'm sure that I won't wanna hear that s*** every single time I start the album but I love it as just as a "fuck you, listen up" to the listeners. Genius that they still named it The 1975

Oh no I totally agree, but at the same time, these albums are needed to make the albums and music that sets you apart in the future. In my opinion I feel like they should’ve made these mixtapes instead of an actual full length, but I guess I get why they did it.
