Listening to their debut rn and the nostalgia

I remember one summer I had a date in this beautiful park in my city and when she left I randomly met my friends like 100m from the place I was sitting with her
Whole day was sunny and warm and I was listening to the self titled the whole way

Going back home looking at the sunset listening to Fallingforyou

Love when music brings you to all these amazing places and moments from your life

Don't know why but I'm not a fan of that song

At least not that big of a fan to put it at #1

  • May 27, 2020

It's been almost a week and I've never had an album die for me so quickly.

I thought this was better than ABIIOR too, this album still has some of their best songs on it though, but I would be lying if I said I haven't had the drive to revisit most of the songs after the first initial few days.

This should've been a group of mixtapes instead of an actual album.

    nah I cannot with you

    "useless instrumentals"

If you think The End or Streaming adds value to the list then I don’t know what to say

    guess that checks out lol

Apparently none of my scrobbles from today counted

    But:

Just bought the signed Picture 2LP Vinyl and bought the self-titled T-shirt (which comes with a digital album) plus I bought the album digital on iTunes.

"Nothing Revealed" is so good it's wild hearing people disliking it, track sounds like it infused Blood Orange it might as well be on the Cupid Deluxe album

"What Should I Say" is one of the ok tracks to me. All the singles remain the ones above average on here with "Me & You" still is the best track. Still taking my own time to enjoy this tbh

I'm actually fine with the length overall here, this band always been so self-absorbed and to that I say just let them be. Every listen of their album always put you on this mood where you dgaf about your surrounding leaving just you minding your own thing

    LIST

the problem is you CALL IT A LIST

It's an album! Instrumental tracks add SOUL to this album! Without it it's just a playlist of random nice sounding tracks

I can't imagine listening to the album and skipping STREAMING OF ALL THE SONGS. It transitions so nice into Birthday Party

But I guess ever since I replied to your first post we are bartering over one and same thing:

You don't get the art behind of an/this album and would be happier if they just took 10 best sounding tracks and made a 40min LP so you could sing along.

While I like to completely zone out and get 100% into the feelings behind the MUSIC

I don't look at those songs as a separate tracks played in order
To me there's no Birthday Party without Streaming, no What Should I Say without Heaving No Head they are not separate.

Taylor Swift’s 1989 is 110 minutes long with 0 bad songs. It’s not about length. It’s about a lengthy album maximizing its run time. I think NOACF is an 8.8/10 but it does not maximize its full run time. There’s songs that to me aren’t that good and there’s a two songs that add no value to me. That’s just my personal opinion/complaint.

I understand you disagree and I’m glad you like those tracks but The End makes no sense right after people when people already came after an intro. Streaming should not exist and either be gone or a part of The Birthday Party imo.

And then there’s 3 actual songs I would personally cut.

I know The 1975 is capable of a long album with 0 bad songs. Self-titled has 16 tracks and 0 bad songs. ABIIOR was only 15 tracks and I didn’t like half the album. NOACF is 22 songs and has some songs I’d get rid of. I just want something to conpletely wow me like Self-Titled. They are my 3rd most played artist since I joined Last.fm in 2018. I love them a lot but all of their albums after self-titled have at least a few bad songs on them to me and I know The 1975 could make a perfect album if they made a shorter album.

Imagine if this album was cut in half or the length or ABIIOR. It could be a perfect album. It could be AOTY for me and it could be a top 20 album ever to me. That’s how much I love The 1975 when they make music with thorn full potential.
