I wouldn't say he needs to "redeem" himself but SICK! definitely didn't satisfy the hunger. Need another plate for sure.

I don't appreciate Alc going back and forth between teasing the Larry June EP and Roc album. I need confirmation that we are getting that Roc album first

Redeem? Nigga Sick was a great album. Also anybody still expecting that man to put out long projects should just forget it, he’s made it clear he’s not gonna do that

I think he was able to retain his artistic vision and this whole wave of transparency through short songs while making a more accessible sound this time round, compared to the past two releases. The writing on this album is more direct than before and he's added more punchlines to his songs which he didn't do as much before. Basically, he stepped out of his comfort zone somewhat so i fw it

Considering he seemingly lost an album that was 19 tracks long, I wouldn't say he's made it clear that he's not gonna put out a long project again.

Sick is enjoyable in moments but big picture-wise was dissapointing, especially considering the length of wait. It feels undercooked and the sequencing is off. It's been blown out the water by the majority of other rap release this year. I would say Earl certainly needs to redeem himself. Especially considering the output of his peers.

I mean long in terms of runtime not number of tracks. We all know that 19 track album most probably consisted of 1-2 minute songs as per usual. And on the topic of him needing to redeem himself, he's explicitly stated over the years that public opinion isn't something he's concerned with deeply and that he makes music to get s*** off his chest. In any case, the critics have loved the album and many people I've spoken to have as well so

Well, when we say long in runtime I assume we all simply mean more a conventional length, i.e. not sub 25 mins. 19 tracks at 1-2 minutes is still 35-40 minutes.

Whether he cares about public opinion really has no relevance here does it. The album is average, that's all ultimately. He can do better, we all know this. 3 of his closest peers - woods, Quelle, ELUCID have all dropped better albums this year and significantly more material in recent years.

Bare in mind SRS was 25 minutes and 15 tracks. A 19 track project from him would be 30 to 35 in fact. But anyway, the guys you've named have indeed dropped better albums, that goes without saying. The problem is thinking he's actually competing with them as opposed to seeing them as inspirations. When he says s*** in a recent interview like "i'm ready to be in the league NOW", what does that tell you about what his goal has been the past few years? Clearly it doesn't communicate that hes been trying to be the best rapper or put out the greatest album
