JonzSaw this a second time and my feelings towards Dano's riddler have shifted a little.
I think a lot of movies in this genre try to glorify villains, but this movie does something different - the riddler is introduced as a sinister and frightening figure, but the movie briliantly ends up presenting him as a completely pathetic killer (as batman so eloquently puts it). His sudden "goofiness" becomes a mirror to this subversion.
ahhh i didn't think of that. i wasn't a huge fan of him either but it's almost comic relief that he's just an internet dwelling loser. maybe it's intentional then

We rarely got in depth with batflecks Batman so I don’t get this but ok. Like what exactly were we shown that was going to make us connect with his Batman? We never got those type of personal moments.

Had we gotten his solo maybe that would be different, but bvs and ZSJL didn’t do a whole lot in terms of fleshing out his Batman’s personality.

Mar 18, 2022Movie was great. A few scenes took me out of it though. Like the point blank explosion in his face not even getting him a scratch.
Or the numerous times he was about to passout only to suddenly wake up and go at it like nothing happened, but it's a superhero movie so it's whatever I'm just nitpicking.

Christian bales Batman felt like Bruce Wayne was wearing a Batman costume.
I feel you, but Bale's fleshed out training and gadget tickering in Batman Begins makes him more believable to me than this Batman who just eats bullets like he's Superman.
