Damn, Paul really was the man. Musically he clearly was more naturally gifted and he seemingly is the only one that is trying to get s*** done. Must have been hard to deal with people being so disrespectful and ungrateful.
He carried this
It’s really shows in everyone’s post-breakup projects
Paul was the one
He is OWED some checks tbh lol
I wonder how long he had to be that dude? Seemed like he damn near wrote every song too lol imagine the Beatles is just Paul with some casual input from the others
The Beatles from 1960-1966 were creatively lead by Lennon, but from 1967-1970, the group was led by McCartney with the occasional great song from Lennon.
It didn’t help that Lennon wrote an entire album of material with The White Album and then had to go back into the studio pretty much immediately afterwards to write 7-8 new songs on top of that. That was McCartney’s greatest talent. Churning out hit after hit like it was nothing during that period. Lennon couldn’t really do that on the fly. His only real competition in The Beatles was George Harrison emerging as a prolific songwriter.

So was this film before abby road?
Because I noticed the let it be songs they were making but then Paul was working on golden slumbers?
Did they make Abby road in between this and putting out get back as let it be?
I’m also only on ep 1 so maybe I haven’t seen the answer yet

Let It Be was recorded before Abbey Road but they shelved it until after they released Abbey Road
Let It Be didn't come out until 1970 and all of these sessions are January 1969

Yes
Let It Be or “Get Back” as I should say was recorded first, but the concept was never really finalized until Phil Specter overproduced it.
The only reason why Get Back or “Let It Be” released was because of the movie. Abbey Road is the real grand finale of The Beatles.

Which is crazy to think that they went from Let It Be to Abbey Road after all that
The littlest things I find weirdly emotional in this. Paul’s daughter sitting with him on the piano. George helping Ringo work out Octopuses Garden. Billy Preston smiling while they’re jamming. Lennon just being silly. There’s something uncanny seeing this footage in this good of quality. It feels like looking into a live camera but through a time machine. Paul says something at one point about how people are gonna get the reasons for why the Beatles will eventually break up wrong in 50 years and it’s been over that time. These guys still had their whole lives ahead of them.
This was amazing, wish they could do something like this with Prince or Bowie
I could never find a good doc about Prince
think ima start this tonight
was just listening to the 2018 rerelease of the white album the other day and there’s just no one who does it like my boys
I wish we could see this in a theatre
Imagine the sound system, hearing just Paul playing the bass or hearing them all jamming + the songs coming together etc
ringo sitting there sick with his eyes closed while john makes masturbation jokes staring at teh camera like jim from the office
Can’t wait until someone does this with all the footage Kanye has of himself working on albums 🥳🥳

I’ll never not be salty that Rubber Soul and Revolver didn’t get the remixed treatment.
Especially Revolver. It’s criminal tbh.

Idk I'd take All Things Must Pass, Plastic Ono Band and Imagine over anything McCartney, even Band on the Run.
Paul has a lot of classic solo songs though. Waterfalls maybe being the best.
They could all hold their own solo, part of why they're the GOATs

Ram is amazing though. All Things Must Pass is better but I’m not sure if I think the two Lennon records are better than Ram.

Ram is pretty good, but I still think I prefer the first 2 Lennon albums.
I like that George and John left and made music that the Beatles set up wouldn't have let them make too. I don't think the Paul solo music had as much urgency to it.
But it's Paul McCartney so there's still a lot of classics from his solo career. That's how good they all were
