Have you not seen/read any of the history of things like: the development team's office activities, the vague approach to assigning roles and team management, people who quit because they multiplied their staff numbers but most employees knew what they were supposed to be doing, and everything else that doesn't involve flashy footage that shows off what the game does?

That's why people have been saying it's a scam — or at the very least a grand idea helmed by people that aren't actually able to make it reality because of horrible mismanagement of resources and team members.

You seeing development progress videos of the game means nothing. Just like when No Mans Sky made its initial press rounds and showed off footage of gameplay and objects/creatures that blew everyone away, except most of it was faked and wasn't able to exist in the actual game. (In addition to the dozens of features that were promoted as "available at launch" but weren't even designed or coded yet.)

Do you also watch those future concept promo vids from corporations like GE or car companies and think the things in them are real?

It's clearly a bigger issue to you because you're out here writing essays and all I'm saying is based off the content I've seen on YouTube it seems like a strong ambitious title which should be appreciated in a world of rushed games. Youre comparing it to no man's sky's launch as if everything I've seen isn't currently available to play for yourself. Based on what I've heard, the developers have won back many disillusioned fans recently, and have some great stuff to show that isn't in any other game on the market.
