And definitely not a better alternative to homelessness.
But, as I said, on paper they should be ok to live in because otherwise it's inhumane to keep people there. I'm saying if we didn't have to spend money to keep murderers, rapists, and I also put there people who steal too much from the community to justify it as a misstep those people should be just executed or exiled ( if we can come with a modern a***ogy).
We can use all this tax money to help homeless people, ill people, people in need etc.

ngl for some things stocks for a week would be better than prison for multiple years. some medieval punishments actually make more sense

Is killing people inhumane? Is stealing billions from the federal budget inhumane? Is raping inhumane?
I understand the idea that fighting fire with fire is bad, but what alternative do we have now? To throw a person in prison for life like they did with a guy who killed Lennon, he is obviously not getting out in forever, so why should we spend money on him? Likewise with some other cases.

if it under about $500 they should have to pay it back in double. stealing is bad but you shouldnt go to jail for over a yea for it. maybe a 3 strike rule or something

hot pancakesi think with prison, even though you can eat / live for free like you said, it’s still a horrible environment. you are locked in a cell at times, controlled, food sucks, it’s hardly an existence
at least when you’re homeless you are “free” and have an opportunity to try and turn yourself around
And that's why they aren't fit for purpose, how can you hope to reform and reintegrate people into society in an environment that that isn't conducive to either of those things
