Lol that's not what I'm saying.

The point I'm making is that reading so much into this is purely speculative. The artist has not indicated the purpose of the work. So based only on the information we have, it's a lazy track. You can try to come up excuses for it, but you're arguing for its value based only on aspects that MIGHT be true.

So in other words, you have zero idea how criticism works

The piano beat is hard as f***

If it had properly isolated vocals it’d be amazing

this is like saying that art should be interpreted by the museum tombstones that sit next to the works

it ain't comin up with excuses or s*** like that, it's just interpretation. it's one of the most integral parts of art

You dont understand what I'm saying or how it relates to what you said, because you were talking out of your ass about a subject you clearly know nothing about. You're another loser child trying their best to use all 3 of their brain cells to look smart on the internet

chillax we here itt appreciating art what's your take on tell the vision

  • Nov 20, 2021

Funny thing about art, minimalism and critiques of poor execution that usually come with the territory is it leaves some people thinking "Is this just 'bad'... or am I just not getting... 'it'?! Perhaps this is challenging my perception of terms I seek comfort in helping me explain what seems unexplainable to me... Kanye made MBDTF... I know he can do better! so wtf is this s***???" and tbh I think that's a beautiful stance to take! People thought the same about Picasso... It's so easy to call this trash and that garbage, but personally, it's almost too easy... like it could be a trap set by the creator to filter out the uninformed... or it could just be trash

Let's not pretend the music hemisphere is not oversaturated with a lack of originality, overdose of artistic convenience, comfort and cash grabs which leaves us begging for something fresh that we can't recognise... something that provokes discussion... Taking context into account, Kanye is an artist who cares about the craft, that's undeniable at this point.... so why would he do this? Why would he butcher such beautiful vocals and stick them behind a FL studio preset piano loop and put it on such a profound album? WHY???

And maybe that's what he intended... or maybe he just rushed it for the release party to match CLB.... I guess we will never know ooooo

i can understand how what i said comes off that way. I know my original post was dismissive, but you are right, there is value in discussing art based on interpretation. I just don't really see any interpretation to me justifying the execution of the track.

"Unfounded" has a negative connotation, but in the context of art criticism a lot of it is "unfounded" in that it's not based on facts, but the feelings of the individual. But in this sense, I don't think it adds more validity to the song to hypothesize a meaning.

Don't really have an argument for you beyond I don't think any thing Kanye has done indicates a deeper meaning for the track, and if there is one, the song can be executed in a lot more interesting ways.

I get what you mean in what Fountain implied about how we interpret the value and meaning of art, but even that work itself had a mission statement.

There's just nothing to really build off with Tell the Vision though, so it feels a lot more speculative.
