The problem with AI is that it has the potential to do insane work in the hands of a very smart person.

But if you hand an AI tool to a person of average or below average competence it will often degrade the quality of work.

The special effects in movies are looking worse because people are relying on new technology for special effects but can barely make use of them.

It’s the same reason why all the new video games have a the same blurry filter out on the distance to “clean up the background” (a lazy ass design workaround).

Plus AI generative special effects are not the end all be all. The physics based special effects systems like the one used in the Avatar movie offers better results but requires a certain level of technical knowledge which most of these people lack in the field

Well special effects dipped in quality due to rushing the production.

Pirates of the Caribbean SFX still s***s on a lot of modern sfx

You think the JAPANESE are about to change their ways?

    Everybody needs to slow down.

    The pendulum will swing.

    Stranger things have happened ..

But I obviously would never EVER want that, it's just that every culture is business minded at the end of the day. They have corp suits just like we do, who crunch budgets until they can't crunch anymore. I would be surprised if they started doing this s***, but at the same time, writing's on the wall

When it comes to art, tradition and hundreds of years of reinforcement— I don’t think they’re gonna fold like THAT. Maybe they find a better way to use it, but i think it’ll be pretty untouched. IMO.

I would like all the doubters to watch this and tell me Ai isnt the future of cinema

Idk man maybe I'm being a luddite but I have yet to be impressed by any of these videos.

Sure the "look" of them has improved tremendously but the actual footage always feels so flat, lifeless, and "off" in little ways. It genuinely has the same feel as watching an ad for a mobile game.

It might be amusing for some people as a 5 minute clip that they watch while they're procrastinating at work but I can't see anyone paying or sitting down for a two-hour version of this.

S*** is slop plain and simple

Well you have to think AI went from not being able to do hands in just pictures to this. So even if its not up to par now imagine the potential 5 years down the line

My point is I don't think AI will ever be able to fully re-create something that only a human touch could make.

Everything AI spits out is a copy or reference of something else a human made. For that reason I don't think it will ever surpass human made film.

honestly this couldnt be further from the truth

99% of people's aesthetic concerns don't go beyond tuning into the latest trending netflix goycattle bait (nearly indistringuishable from gen ai)

there's not much reason to believe they would be opposed to full blown ai performances and sfx

Yeah, I realized the success that generative AI shows can have when I remembered that middle aged people love soap operas and Lifetime Network movies

Even folks around my age, I’m watching turn into aunts and uncles leaving likes on things that are clearly AI but tell a dramatic story

When I find out a video I like is AI I tend to dislike it immediately or are let down
    That’s me personally

    Why tho?

If you initially liked it, why does it being AI suddenly change your opinion?

  • whitegirl

I still think its just a trend that will eventually die out

No offense, but you sound like a boomer/someone unwilling to embrace new technology

it removes the human element out of the process, creating no connection to the content. no one wants to watch a robot’s imagination of the world

It's cheap, same energy as wearing reps.
    Just not the real deal
Whatever someone might say, you can tell that it's a rep. If you don't care about authenticity you won't care about it being AI, but if you do then it's a dealbreaker.

I really think you’re over estimating the “human connection”

In all seriousness, in 2026, do people really care about that?

That sounds like something boomers would’ve said when cell phones/text messaging/the internet came on the scene - “What?! You’re telling me that I can’t see and touch someone? I can only hear their voice and see words on a screen?! Where’s the human connection in that?”

Reps are one thing because that’s something tangible that you can literally see, touch, feel.

But if it’s media - as long as it looks/sounds good, I really don’t care. It’s not that deep to me. We’re in 2026. Let’s embrace new tech.

ima say it with my chest but you are by and large the most, the most RЕTАRDED user on this website. i dont think you can produce not even a good opinion but a good post even if someone puts a double barreled shotgun to you, your moms, and your dads heads. some dumbasses on here but everyone has their moments and ultimately i dont wish anyone harm and its all banter. but you are so actively confused i just f***ing hate to see it
