I've been wanting to talk about this and these ideas for a hot minute. I made a video as a jumping off point so we as a community as a whole can talk about what's going on with Streetwear.
Wish I could go back to like 07-08, buying shoes on nikesb.org , not paying stockx or grailed resale

Resellers killed the game
but also if we're being real, stores could have made this better if they addressed the use of bots

I also feel like parents try extra hard these days to have their kids stunt. My mom would laugh me outta this world if I asked for some $200+ shoes, yet it seems like I see kids anywhere from age 3 to high school in stuff like yeezys.

It just makes me so mad, because I genuinely liked the Chunky Dunkys and to hear so many people talk about how they're only getting them to profit and or sit on a shelf pisses me off.
Like why?? What the f***

def interested in the concept of someone's outfit looking like a costume.
I think it was the youtube channel 'The Causal' that mentioned how in japan people dress how they live(something along those lines).
This the US has this problem so badly because people have bought into the concept that you can just buy your way into cool or buy your way into being fashion forward.
So much marketing and social media influence makes it hard for people to even determine if they genuinely like something or are just being conditioned to like something.

This holy s***. But we have such an "anti-gatekeeping" mindset that doesn't keep it real and let people know when they're goofy.
I know a lot of kids got into streetwear because their favorite rappers where said brand or whatever and hell I got into it because Tyler but I also know my tipping point was seeing the Supreme Salt/jawbreaker tee and loving the design.
I wasn't getting it for the brand name, and that's what pisses me off, and nobody called it out
whats your instagram? im about to post a clip on my story @disneyfrozen

im SUUUUPER pro-gatekeeping in regards to authenticity and knowledge
people dont recognize that these things are CULTURE, not just articles of clothes, music, or side hobbies.
i think if it was re-framed as a culture the way it's handled would change drastically, where authenticity and knowledge are just as valued(if not more) than what you can afford.
