Thanks, just the general state of emergency and me having stuff to do. But I'm back.
The party leaves quickly and heads back towards the west trying to get to the bridge. After about a quarter hour y'all reach the entrance and begin the crossing, to your left you can still see the Point-No-Point Bridge and the power plant near the river.

Odeon and Fougere notice some faint engine sounds again, they lean over the left side of the bridge to see where they're coming from and spot a large amount of reds, maybe a good 50-100 people. They are only 2'000 feet / 600 meter away from your position, but it looks like they didn't notice you yet since you're high up. It looks like they are swarming out around the river, some of them are observing the water.
Fougere additionally perceives a male caucasian person wearing a white lab coat and a black porkpie hat among them. He can't make out the specific facial features of the man at that distance, but he's surely standing out from the crowd, pointing fingers everywhere and commanding people around, whilest writing in a notebook.@Ignance_ @barrymc @LuJo @Odeon

382 confirmed cases in Sydney, 75 were from the past day. A cruise ship carrying 2700 passengers just arrived from New Zealand with 3 confirmed infected on board.
At least I won’t have to go to my cousin’s wedding in South Africa now.

The party runs off after seing the danger and travels for another 1,5 km and is now in the center of South Kearny. The surroundings have gotten noisier again after the sun reached it's zenith. Explosion and shots can be heard far off, especially to the east and north. The violet veil in the sky gets denser. South Kearny seems to be relatively quiet, nothing that would draw immediate attention is going on around the bridge. Beneath you is another scrapeyard full of cars and shipping containers. Towards the north you can see a trainyard, some trains can be seen on the rails, but none of them are moving. Far off to the east you can see barely see the Manhattan Skyline, it's almost completely blurred as if it was shrouded in mist. It's a strange view.
Porter sighs "We were lucky...what an army of reds...at least it seems to be quiet around here..."

Elori senses some magic energy which feels the same as the magical items you've found and indentified so far.
It seems to originate from a point a mile (1.5km) to the south, probably near the riverbank, where the Hackensack and the Passaic River meet.
