It's because their favourite character died. Such a stupid reason. It's a f***ing story. Having Joel and Ellie just rebuilding their relationship, which they did in the first game, again would've been so stale and dumb
agreed and if people actually had an open mind and played the game, they'd know Joel has a huge presence on the story even after his death, not just in terms of actual scenes with him but the obvious influence he has on Ellie in a number of decisions she makes. Its so stupid because the game never at any point tries to make you forget about him or belittle him.
RDR2 TLOU 1 and 2
In terms of gameplay rdr2 and tlou2 are in a league of their own

rockstar still hasn't done better than max payne 3 imo
all of their other games feel so sluggish in comparison it's like i'm controlling a human tank
tlou2 is that perfect middle ground between weight and groundedness vs fluidity and smooth motion
Literally nobody hated the Joel and Ellie segments, they were goated
People want Marvel-level fan service and stories where even if their fav hero dies you know he'll be back to life within an hour or two. Thankful that a studio as big as ND has enough faith in the player to tell an interesting story.
People tryna change the narrative and make this game good? No sir.
Superb bro

You gotta be extremely stubborn or just outright hate narrative-driven action games like this to think this game is anything short of great. There's no reason that anyone who enjoyed the first game wouldn't get equal or greater entertainment here. I really don't get the arguments lol. Imagine most people who say this game is bad had way too much of a hard-on for Joel or are scared of queer characters. Gameplay, graphics and design are undeniable. Story is less straight forward than part 1 but is arguably even stronger (regardless of personal opinions, it's definitely a high point in video game storytelling). I played both games for the first time last month and I loved both but gotta give it to 2.

One of the best games ever

It’s YOU with the narrative and the changing and the no sir
the gameplay is great in tlou2 the structure and progression is my problem
i'll give u the initial switch when u start plating as abby. it was def abrupt and slowed the pacing. it really picks up when u first meet yara and lev tho. that's when i really started buying into her character and became invested in her arc.
"slap ellie"
casual guitar plucking ensues
"Noooooo, you can’t like Tlou 2 nooo what about the sjw pandering"
I mean, I would be the first one to call out SJW pandering because it is absolutely a real thing, but its definitely a ridiculous complaint here. Sure, you can nitpick and say Manny saying these short one word responses to Abby in spanish is a way of trying hard to remind you of his ethnicity or even that one little conversation where Lev asks Abby if she understood why she was called a certain phrase from the Scars to drum it into the audience's head that she is a transgender.
But ultimately, these are very small moments of pandering in a game (let alone big budget story) that finally captures beautifully layered characters and their relationships with one another, whether that is Dina and Ellie's love story, which is finally a lesbian story that doesn't have to do with trauma about others accepting their relationship, or even Lev getting to have a genuine emotional arc of being accepted by a parental figure in Abby and that her arc isn't fully just about the fact she is transgender. I think the writers of the game were able to tell a story that does wish to tackle these themes, but unlike so many other filmmakers or creators that wish to pander to the libs by focusing on their trauma or the injustice they go through, we actually see fully realized characters and their identity being a part of them, but that they are so much more than their sexuality or race.

Lmao i’m on your side, i’m not saying the game is pandering to sjws or whatever

yeah, I was just saying that I agree that SJW pandering can be a real complaint, but I think this is one of those rare cases that a story decides to tackle social justice themes but does it in an authentic way

Couldn’t agree more.
i heard someone say that joel did die for ellie in response to joel needing to have a heroic death
he died for ellie by saving her at the hospital but got an extra 5 years

No offense but people who always say SJW pandering is a thing never give any examples
