I mean they have to dont they? Either through flashbacks or a voice in Ellie's head or whatever. TLOU was always about Joel and Ellie.

Nah. At the end of this game Ellie finally lets go of revenge for Joel. Accepts their last conversation was a good one. And leaves the guitar behind. Joel is over

But with that said. Ain’t no ghost. 100% a flashback somewhere with Joel

Imo it’s an incredible experience, but if u look into some the the characters choice’s through the story there’s some huge jumps in logic. I think that was the main reason for backlash outside of joels fate

    Like what?

The part where Abby decides to let Ellie live after the fight in the theatre even tho Ellie has killed most of her friends is something I just can’t buy personally. Like we’ve established Abby is a ruthless mf who kills Jessie and thinks she kills tommy, why would she spare the main proprietor of this entire revenge campaign? Unless I’m missing something

She has a personal connection with Ellie that she didn’t have with Tommy or Jessie, can likely recognize the parallels between them, and recognize that her pursuit of vengeance against Joel is what led to this entire situation to begin with, and if she kills Ellie that doesn’t necessarily mean the situation resolved, there could always be someone else. Dina for instance, whom she chose to spare.

That’s what made it so good for me. I actually originally disliked the ending then liked the uncertainty or grim feeling that we would never see their conclusion. Thought it would make a good anthology series

Would be really awesome to see how the virus affected in different parts of the world

    But alas, America

    ||I mean more symbolically. Father/father figure, she also had Ellie watch, as opposed with Tommy who was knocked unconscious.

You gotta allow some constraints in a fictional narrative, especially one split between two protagonists.

There’s also Lev, a character who was a part of an organization that Abby was essentially trained to see as the enemy whom she grew a fondness for, helped give her perspective.||

    this

i thought it was obvious that Lev was a metaphor for Abbys hope and way out of the ruthless life she's been living

    truly goat sequel

I find the discourse around these games interesting because gameplay never comes up lol.

I understand these are story focused games but the reason I'm not overly fond of Part 1 is because the gameplay is pretty basic, while Part 2 makes significant strides in gameplay but is regarded as inferior only due to the story.

Do y'all even enjoy this series as a game, or is it just a vehicle for the story?

I personally really like the series as a game. 2’s gameplay is amazing and some of the best stealth action gameplay around, only rivaled by MGS5. It’s amazing what you can do with the tool set they give you. This game on higher difficulties with barely any resources is a thrill
