Because in story-driven games the gameplay is less important imo

If that were the case they wouldn't have revamped Part 2's gameplay to have top tier gameplay

I guess they just weren't at that level in 2013 to have both

I’m talking about audience impression not the developers intention.

After playing part 2, you can’t go back to part 1 and objectively judge it. Back in 2013 it was great. Now that you’ve played the evolved version it’s no where near as good.

That may be true for most people but I've always felt Tlou1 was overrated because of it's simplistic gameplay not matching the quality of the story. Then they gave Tlou2 god tier gameplay and everyone hated it for the story

Eh a game doesn’t need both

Super Mario 64 is still a classic even though the story doesn’t match the quality of the gameplay, tlou1 is just the reverse

If it does both exceptionally well, then it is certainly a masterpiece, but it doesn’t need both to be one

That's true, I'm just a gameplay first person so story alone usually isn't enough to keep me interested. Sony games typically have both but I'm not mad at gameplay-first games either like Souls or Mario.

Need more Ellie or a Joel game based on the 20 year flash forward we didn’t see.

Beat the game. Will do left behind tomorrow. Game is still great, but after finishing… tbh confirmed my thoughts that 2 is better. In just about every way. Gameplay dated, and story pretty straight forward (although really good).

I’d say this game has better pacing than 2 for sure. Air tight pacing really.

The remake itself imo was fantastic. One of the best 1:1 remakes out there along with demons souls (honestly this a better remake than demons souls was, didn’t ruin any art direction)

Not worth $70 at all. I’d say grab this whatever price you’re comfortable with. Should go down fast imo. $40 I’d be fine with for this.

    Time to replay 2 soon

    Real post

Yeah 2 definitely paced mad different but with how grim it is continously it kind of lends itself to breaks where as last of us 1 had more lighter moments

What makes me mad about sony is they released good remasters of all these classic games (sly, ratchet, god of war, Jak, and more) all for the PS3.

All of these not available on ps4, and the ones you can play (jak) are literal ps2 ports missing all the enhancements of those ps3 remasters

Yeah but Sony’s dumb ass had a s***ty architecture for the PS3 and were notoriously hard to make games for

Which sucks cus like you said, Sony released so many DOPE remastered trilogies that are f***in STUCK on the PS3

But I hope the people that did the Spyro and Crash trilogy remakes, eventually get to Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper

I want them to be remade so bad but I doubt it’ll happen

MS about to own these people in 2023... So more like another studio like Bluepoint Games maybe who did some remakes of 1st party Sony games

My main tactic from Pt. II totally works for this too now.

Draw an enemy out of cover by switching to a weapon that’s out of ammo, point it at them and shoot so they’ll hear the click.

Doing that s*** and having them try to charge you only to switch to your shotgun and blow them away is so good.

Honestly, it’s something that I’m shocked I’ve never seen in any movie before, it’s so cool.

Wait that sounds f***ing so cool

Was that mechanic (empty gun clicks drawing enemies) in the original TLOU or something from TLOU2 that they brought over?

It might have been, but I don’t remember it being as natural feeling as in Pt. II.
