If you’re referring to Hardware then it’s drones.

Smartwatches have come around fast too

AI is hype as Machine Learning has been around since the start of the internet.

I would suggest a big 1 in Contactless/apple pay etc. Physical cash damn near irrelevant to alot of younger folk now. May not be life changing but a big difference in something that been part of society for so long.

I’m sure someone will wholeheartedly disagree with me but,

    AirPods.

The quality, the quick charging, the tap to pause & skip etc, and the hella easily pairing.

Most of the things posted itt are no where remotely f***ing close to the impact of smartphones lmao. AirPods and smartwatches don’t actually change the fabric of society, they just make your life easier and are kind of an extension of the smartphone. Gaming is just gaming lol, it has no effect on how society works at large.

AI is def no where near as impactful either, however it comes the closest just because of how it will change education

Was thinking about this while finishing the Blackberry mini-series. Putting a computer in a phone was obviously the biggest one of our lives. All the tiny innovations on that post-iPhone OG have been rather negligible.

Obviously the rise (and fall tbh) of the search engine, social media, Amazon also happened in this time. Text messaging, email, etc. Those aren't pieces of tech so much as systems.

So what were recent ones? I feel like they're just endlessly tweaking things. For all the AI hype, it has not been significantly different than the search engine for me personally. I'm not sure how it even gets to that point.

I thought you meant generally as a recommendation. But generally changing my approach to buying tech in general was better, which is "buying cheap, you buy twice". I used to cheap out and suffer as a result. I'm more open to spending more on important tech now.

The underlying theory of machine learning was known in the 50s, but they didn’t have the computational power we have today
