I’m 25 and make 72K without bonus and i still feel broke, that’s how I know there’s a problem
My homie same age in investment banking morgan stanley in NY is making 140K base with a 100% matching bonus bruh that’s nuts
72k base is not bad, where u live?
NY prices are ridiculously expensive and IB hours are awful
What’s considered minimum wage and where does it end? Retail/food service? Or simply anything without a degree?
I would say any job that requires no degree and very little training
Very little training being like less than a week or 2

feel like anything that doesn't require certification/degree/actual niche knowledge. cause some tech s*** or cs you can learn on your own.
Anything that any average person can do without much prep or extra knowledge really, prob most hourly wage jobs, or a good amount of them

much lower than i was thinking
Idk how they kept the whole “40k-80k is middle class, 100k+ is upper class” gimmick going this long.
Unless your making at least 70k you can’t live anywhere near secure.
Facts only
Wow just a quick read in minimum wage history.
Some European king imposed a “maximum” wage law to keep people from inflating prices.
And later in the late 1800’s NZ imposed minimum wage laws to go at sweatshops.
The US legit only imposed minimum wage and labor laws cause people died by the numbers lol. Even with a degree these jobs would have you killing yourself for the lowest price.
You think without minimum wage that degree job salary would be that high?
Median worker doing what job?
I know that article ain’t tryna say minimum wage jobs should be $100k a year so what jobs are they talking about?
You have genuinely one of the worst takes on this site consistently
Idiot

I can see that. But I also don’t like the power being put into the college systems.
Also if minimum wage isn’t being raised regularly. Jobs paying Degree salary won’t see any promotions. There wouldn’t be a reason to raise pay if minimum is so far behind.
And I know people already struggle paying off student loans with a degree job.
Sad that half this country is brainwashed to think $7 an hour is enough
Barely anyone here thinks thats enough, maybe for a teen but thats it

Idk where you live but many people (Republicans) are against raising the minimum wage
If you were referring to Ktt well then this site is young and more progressive than the average American
The super wealthy have their pockets grow fatter while the peoples wages remain stagnant
wasn't there a company that gave all of it's employees 70k or a minimum salary of 70k
Yeah and productivity and employee retention went up and the company tripled in size in like 3 years.
Crazy how that works...

it's not about college/university systems. It's just higher knowledge and skills. the same reason a lot of extensive jobs can't be obtained by any average person
also are you talking about this hypothetical scenario or real world? cause minimum wage hadn't been raised for years and people still got raise and promotions. those are based on company revenue and employee performance most instances. outside of like inflation/dollar strength and the poverty line i don't think minimum wage affects that much
Wages should be way higher than they are
There’s zero reason why I fast food job literally providing food to hundreds of people shouldn’t pay enough to live comfortably off of
Then America has this weird notion of certain jobs deserving less pay than others

They went from "essential workers" back to "hamburger flippers" pretty f***in quick

It's true they're mainly against raising wages but that's just because people are afraid of prices being raised too. With that being said I still think wages deserve a raise while prices remain the same, especially for these huge corporations that rake in billions upon billions of dollars

If a multi billion dollar corporation can’t afford to pay its employees liveable wages it shouldn’t operate independently
They went from "essential workers" back to "hamburger flippers" pretty f***in quick
Did them like they do the vets. You’re heroes and we know you’re coming back either mentally or physically scarred so all we’ll give you is a discount you can use at the local mackies and the crowd will clap for you at a baseball game

Agreed and that's the f***ed up part about how corporations operate in general, sadly I don't think things will change much in the future.

Like how we praise nurses and doctors for being so bold and deserving high pay yet the same people refuse to wear a mask or take a vaccine
I’m going on a tangent but I’m sure you see the correlation

Not even. They had to deal with crazy drive thru lines and most didn't get paid any more.
Absolutely shameless
