I feel like his stats are inflated because of the otherworldly amount of elite skill players on the 49ers + having Shanahan as their coach

I disagree completely. he’s one of the most underrated players in the league because of how he’s utilized in san fran. on a per route basis he is elite. given the targets I absolutely think he could be a top 5 receiver in the league.

this guy would have been a huge boon to the offense. type of guy worth going all in for. as opposed to overpaying ridley or hopkins.

To be fair, this year I really don’t care.

Our O Line is a f***ing embarrassment (Lowe is supposedly getting reps as a starter over Wallace — so surprising he sucks btw, not like every media pundit thought it was a bad pick! ) and Maye seems to be showing some solid things but isn’t blowing the doors off and it sounds like he’s probably headed to a red shirt year (which I think he should given our o line talent).

So obviously it would have been nice to have Aiyuk play with Maye next year, we can reassess our options when the time comes — I’m sure there will be other things available

no doubt about that. I just hope we really made the best offer we could. when you’re as s***ty as the pats, you need to throw the most money at guys, and by a lot. if we offered aiyuk anything less than $35 million a year with most of it guaranteed we weren’t being serious.
