You gotta understand the context of how long he waited, how much hype there was, and the resulting product to understand why people flipped on him so hard. And yes it really was that bad. If you say you go back to that album I know you’re lying or being a contrarian. It STINKS man.
A married man got bullied because he made an album about his wife and being happily married. That’s so sad and miserable its like these people have 0 self awareness
I can almost guarantee no one would care about him rapping about his marriage if they thought the music was good
Name a song on TBD that sounds like Jesus Walks or Through the Wire
its bait bruv
It felt music-related to me. Because Chance doesn't fit in with a lot of the other popular rappers of his generation, i feel like he has to make his music extra high quality to keep people's attention.
He did that, and more, on Acid Rap and moments like sunday candy or ULB, legitimately making some classic level music.
But for me as someone who was really excited for Coloring Book, he only reached that level a couple times on coloring book (How Great, Angels, Finish Line/Drown were my standouts). But even tho I felt this way, it seemed like most people actually loved the whole project. Maybe he waited too long to drop the follow up and didn't have lots of great features to keep people hyped when they were waiting? Maybe people didn't want him on the beats he was picking? Either way, his music ULB has progressively got lots less focused.
It's a shame as he would have been a fun, positive force in hip hop. He felt a bit stagnant too. like he wanted to be the next kanye, but unlike ye, he stopped at his first mainstream sound and was happy with that. I'm sure he'll make some good songs tho, like I Might Need Security was great.
Wow u went off
A lot of Kanye fans pretend to not like The Big Day because it sounds EXACTLY like The College Dropout.
chance has always been taking from 2004 ye, i feel like ye fans originally loved his homage of kanye and his music. but like just because something sounds like something doesn't make it good. JiK sounds like a modern take on earlier kanye in a lot of ways to me musically (not lyrically), but i get why people don't feel like it's the new college dropout or lr
Name a song on TBD that sounds like Jesus Walks or Through the Wire
maybe because dude wrote off his first three projects as mixtapes and has been hyping up his debut album for literally years, only for it to f***ing suck outside of a couple good songs
?? TBD was literally exactly what i expected from a Chance album tbh
Not for me, I expected Chance to make the album about being married and all of that, I just expected something a little deeper, especially after 65th and Ingleside and the other singles he released before
Like what do you know about Chance's wife and his feelings for her after listening to The Big Day?
''TBD wasn't even that bad''
TBD:
But the only way to survive is to go crazy
Yeah, the only way to survive...
F*** MONEY, S***, F***, S***, TELL 'EM, BURN IT :
I DON'T WANNA, GET IT, F*** IT, F*** IT, F*** IT, F*** IT, F*** IT
F*** IT
YEAH, UH, UH
STILL WANNA, DRINK IT, F*** IT, DRINK IT, DRINK IT, F*** IT, SHOOT IT
I DON'T WANNA, JUST GET IT, GET IT, GET IT, GET IT
I hated TBD but that's one of the only songs I go back to, that and "Five year plan"
The "FUCK IT" part was pretty poorly done but Iike the rest of the song.
Wow u went off
lmao i just wanted a break from this work i'm getting through at the moment and i type fast. i hate working from home (obviously feel lucky i can but it gets really same-y)
I felt like chance was positioned to be one of the bigger rap stars so it's interesting what happened to him. maybe newer stars with a rap-dominated sound can't last like they used to? the long-lasting careers from this half of the decade have been people like Travis
You're deaf, there's a few songs on TBD that actually sound like TCD, those aren't it. I'm actually convinced you're only ever heard like 6 albums in your entire life.
A lot of Kanye fans pretend to not like The Big Day because it sounds EXACTLY like The College Dropout.
