serenadei gotta say i don't really hear what you're saying. if this was just a pandering album he could've forced a bunch of sad songs on there that don't reflect his current mindset but instead he opted for mostly trap bangers and some reflective cuts about his struggles to get where he is now. i feared this album might betray the raw honesty that has defined his discography up to this point (because his fans clearly wanted more depressing tunes), but it's pretty clear he wasn't forcing anything and just wanted to make the music he loves, which i respect and view as progression on his part.
I wasn't looking for forced sad songs, happy Cudi has never been less intriguing than a more mellow Cudi. But even if we're looking at PPDS for comparison Rose Golden and The Commander blow a good portion of this album out of the water and both lean into the reflective cuts notion that you mentioned.
If I were him I wouldn't even do it differently. I get why he called it MOTM3. it was time. but doesn't mean it will be received without hesitance and fair criticism
