Dec 23, 2024v12i’ve always thought he was terrible even tho my teens were spent during the blog era. never liked his rapping/singing voice. always felt like the songs sounded very cheap even when he wanted to be ornate. subject matter didn’t appeal.
the idea of him is better than what he actually is. i find it funny his fans often criticise other artists for being derivative or boring when his whole career he’s been derivative.

Don’t misconstrue what I’m saying. There are several songs that didn’t chart and are hits or are universally loved even if streams don’t reflect that
My issue is that the way tyler is talked about and praised you’d think his numbers would be consistent with that on some level and he’s grossly underperformed. He’s closer in comp to a Lil Uzi (pre-EA2) but treated like he’s approaching big 3 territory

i think for someone that doesn’t outwardly compromise his style of music for the mainstream he’s in a pretty solid position commercially tbh, he isn’t big 3 territory though
