oh no I agree it is introspective and I appreciate it looking in I just dont know if there is much more to say after that without revealing too much if that makes sense
I understand and I had this argument for Jay Z until he released 4:44
With Tyler he'll lean into more experimentation over his sound /(production)/ wise not a lot are on his level
Maybe he'll let the music talk as OP and others are begging him to do
while i was very surprised not to fw chromakopia as much as i thought i would (it feels like the first time hes ever dropped an album where almost all of the music is retreading stuff hes already done) you’re absolutely dead wrong to say he doesnt have any great projects.
hes been a critic darling for years so i dont know where you’re getting the idea that his music isnt good enough to satisfy the chin scratchers of the world.
Great to me would mean get the urge to listen to front to back not just for nostalgia but for it being preophetic or emotionally moving
I genuinely dont think he has a great album

Wdym prophetic?
I think Tyler would benefit greatly from working with outside producers instead of doing all the prod 100% by himself
Is Rocky on Praise the Lord?
my point about a$ap rocky is that a nigga that hasn’t cared about music in over 5 years has still had more impact than tyler in general. never mind the j cole’s, future’s, thug’s, kendrick’s and drakes of the world

Jay Z I appreciate his features but even with 444 he didnt really look that inward guys
he acknowledged cheating but he still this year "they created capitalist as a word to hold me down"

I genuinely dont think he has a great album
And would this imply albums can become _un_great over time?
Wdym prophetic?
timeless music
example After Hours a classic to me the whole album hits perfect for the pandemic feels and still to this day
The cool by lupe timeless and still applies
for me personally Ye Donda iconic moments and messsaging
i’ve always thought he was terrible even tho my teens were spent during the blog era. never liked his rapping/singing voice. always felt like the songs sounded very cheap even when he wanted to be ornate. subject matter didn’t appeal.
the idea of him is better than what he actually is. i find it funny his fans often criticise other artists for being derivative or boring when his whole career he’s been derivative.
dont agree with much of the negative tyler takes itt but the last sentence here is onto something
Never listened to the song Sticky before until this thread
I understand exactly what OP means. Way too much going on
CMIYGL as progression from Flower Boy makes it a good album
CMIYGL is a terrible album dawg lol
some of the laziest sample flips and straight disjointed prod period out of any of his albums, LEMONHEAD is embarrassing
it has some gems like WILSHIRE, SWEET, or a JUGGERNAUT but as an entire album im cool off of it ngl
Jay Z I appreciate his features but even with 444 he didnt really look that inward guys
he acknowledged cheating but he still this year "they created capitalist as a word to hold me down"
It sounds like you want an album to discuss things that are relevant to you?
Wdym prophetic?
Lana Del Rey Born to die still topping the charts kind of music that the years go by it only becomes more true not less
Great to me would mean get the urge to listen to front to back not just for nostalgia but for it being preophetic or emotionally moving
I genuinely dont think he has a great album
This
I literally prefer his lane over pretty much every other form of rap and I respect the hell out of him as an artist
There’s not one album I’ve heard from him that I was amazed by in the slightest
flower boy sucks
Everything after it does too
People think I’m a juvenile edgelord for saying his only authentic, good album is Wolf

I enjoy rusty but I am not relistening to that whole album and tyler isnt even the greatest part on that song

Wolf is easily his best imo
Great to me would mean get the urge to listen to front to back not just for nostalgia but for it being preophetic or emotionally moving

he has multiple albums like that though and those of whom that do like him do listen to his music front to back.
if you dont like anything hes dropped until now despite the wide changes in sound hes had from album to album then i dont think its possible that hes gonna convince you atp
Like seriously this nigga struggles with composition and I don’t understand how some of y'all are overlooking the importance of that
Lana Del Rey Born to die still topping the charts kind of music that the years go by it only becomes more true not less
You have named the 2 most inauthentic albums in the thread thus far
After Hours and Born To Die

Exactly. Waste of time
dont agree with much of the negative tyler takes itt but the last sentence here is onto something
tbh there’s nothing really wrong with liking derivative music it’s just his fanbase act high and mighty when someone likes YB or something unless tyler gives his stamp of approval via end of year fav songs lists/features on his albums
tyler spends more time explaining his soul than speaking on society, storytelling or concepts
I love
this obviously
i think the album starts strong but some songs dont fit on here and should have been hype singles ( Sticky)
