I always appreciate Tyler for being artsy but I just can't enjoy his music for the most part
This
CMIYGL is a terrible album dawg lol
some of the laziest sample flips and straight disjointed prod period out of any of his albums, LEMONHEAD is embarrassing
it has some gems like WILSHIRE, SWEET, or a JUGGERNAUT but as an entire album im cool off of it ngl
Getting no credit for mixing 42 Dugg and YoungBoy in interesting ways is why Rap is dying
You have named the 2 most inauthentic albums in the thread thus far
After Hours and Born To Die
translate what you mean by inauthentic
I didnt say you ahve to be "aunthetic" to embody an timeless character or storytelling

Authenticity is not playing a character I thought?
Came back to this thread and much of the takes I'm seeing from all sides are just pure unmitigated dogshit holy christ.
"He’s literally one of the only artist I’ve ever seen that has been largely carried by their relationships within the industry"
funny to that even the harshest critics itt are like "we appreciate what he does but..."
we all kind of see the potential

I don’t think he really mixed them in interesting ways tbh. Especially YB. It was a good track but nothing that different from a lot of his other love songs
like what is the meaning of chromakopia to you
I think thealbum explores themes of consequences, dual perspectives, and personal growth, serving as a sequel to Igor and CMIYGL, with contrasting green and pink colour symbolism, narratives on wealth, fame, guilt, and identity, and a cohesive arc that examines parental parallels, a pregnancy scare, and Tyler's self-acceptance through storytelling and layered symbolism
I don't think it's a grand eureka moment
WBU?
there are better rappers and storytellers than Drake, Kendrick, Tyler and most of the rappers this forum holds dear

some of those same things while at the same time I genuinely not even joking feel part of his character and going from edgy to magically progressive so fast feels inauthentic

We'll have to disagree. I think Lemonhead is great
"He’s literally one of the only artist I’ve ever seen that has been largely carried by their relationships within the industry"
this isn’t true either
Didn’t expect to see flower boy hate, it’s a charming album
Seeing Flower Boy hate and CMIYGL hate s*** is just sad forreal

I think it's just growth man. We live to see artists mature. That's what Igor is about
I think a huge problem is thinking Tyler is big 3
Tyler to me is Smino, Zay, etc. level to me
