.
watch all these songs become massive hits this summer lol
Oddly accurate lol
same thing happened with Post Malone this year, then he re-signs his contract days before the album comes out and suddenly the Doja Cat song is starting to bubble on TikTok…
On the early handwritten tracklist for Dawn there was language on it that implied he needed the label’s approval for certain songs, that’s why he tried to say it wasn’t real because it kind of exposed that

End of Transmission
Still signing deals?
How many successful artists have ever actually left the label machine and gone full indie, and then had a successful career? I’m vaguely aware of prince being independent for a long period of time but I’m pretty sure he would still partner with labels. All the “you don’t need a label” s*** gets said but I can’t tell how much of that is true or how much of it is hype. Even the artists who blow up indie and then end up staying indie seems
to more or less just be playing the game in a longer time frame (Mac Miller is the first to come to my mind).
Nigga went from making predator r&b to h&m background music I can’t even hate
Young Abel

Only one I can really think of that left the label and succeeded was Frank.

Frank would count for me if he didn’t retire and then bail on everything since then. I don’t actually doubt his ability to do it, but the only thing he has to show in reference to this topic is a bunch of bailed shows and some product rollout that got pretty f***ed up.

Don't forget the tragedy of his brother's accident.
