    I felt similar for the longest, I'm not a fan of CG in anime... But I think growing up with Courage the Cowardly Dog and seeing episodes like King Ramses Curse gave me a soft spot for using CG as a tool to make something look really out of place on purpose.
    I feel GITS 2 themes are much deeper than the first one, no spoilers but give it a watch, maybe it's theme's are relevant for the next era...
