Lol I always thought that bar from Kendrick was interesting cus he said it once then never again. Always funny watching people try and manufacture a gotcha moment for Drake. I’ve never heard anyone say Drake is PND/ Majid Jordan/Ye’s ghostwriter when those reference tracks leaked

I’m not going to pretend I was posting about beam but I definitely knew who kendrick was talking about just because I nerd out over song credits once an album drops.

He was credited on rich flex, Major Distribution, Hours in Silence, and Having Our Way before the battle.

Artists knowing who writes for who is probably an open secret within the industry. People are way too connected and there’s a lot of chatter amongst artists, producers, engineers, entourages, etc. So Kendrick knowing BEAM wrote for Drake isn’t crazy. He also knew Drake had writer’s prior to the Meek beef. Even Drake alleged that Keem wrote for Kendrick, even though we know the opposite to be true. At the end of the day I think most people don’t care but it can used as a gotcha moment.

Its because they've likely submitted stuff for Kendrick before too. It doesn't mean Kendrick doesn't write.

But these records are floated around sometimes for years before they land somewhere.

Meek Mill has done irreparable damage to this writing convo fr because he turned this into something it's not.

Taking a demo, or an idea, and turning it into a finished product does not mean you never write your s***

Idk, I've obv never worked with Drake but it's very clear what role these writers play.

Like Hush contributes lines and words, but he's mostly a proof reader. Others will submit ideas, and sometimes Drake will take 4 bars from the idea, 6 bars from another idea plus the melody, sometimes not use the idea at all, etc. it's all very fluid.

But it's a writer working with other writers. Like, you wouldn't say The Dream can't write just because he's had lines or melodies written for him before. There's a reason why none of the writers who've worked with drake will tell you that they've written FOR drake.

All of these rappers are nasty for acting like they've never had ideas submitted to them before fr
