So we really gonna act like X wasn’t about to take Drake’s spot?

I respect your opinion but I think this is off even just personality wise. One thing that’s overlooked is his drake maneuvers. Very similar to Hov never giving to much like the new generation but also always being relevant and not disappearing like his peers Cole and Kendrick. Idk if X would’ve moved like that but also who knows :l

That’s how X was starting to move toward the end of his life

I agree. It’s mad x stans that thinks this way

Why you replying to other ppl in this thread but ducking my post in reply to you

“ Did I say that X was near Drake
I was responding to thread title and said that X would’ve eventually been as big or bigger than Drake
X has been streamed more in the past 365 days than both Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole have been. Two people who are allegedly supposed to be the other 2 in the Top 3 rappers
He’s been streamed more recently than Lil Uzi, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Nba Youngbiy, Gunna, Roddy Rich, Young Thug, Migos etc like almost anyone you can name
And no, it’s not just bc he died. People just listen to music that they actually want to listen to regardless of if someone died or not (especially 2-3 years after their death)”

    C'mon fam.

Youngboy got more Youtube streams than Cole/Kendrick combined but there's no way Youngboy is gonna replace them despite how popular he is rn.

Any rapper can be hot af for a year or two. It's happened with Chingy, Soulja Boy, Macklemore, Fetty Wap, and Lil Nas X.

XXX had superstar potential for sure but Drake has already solidified himself as being up there with Hov, Kanye, Em, and Wayne career wise.

Hell, even Juice Wrld and Pop Smoke are currently bigger than XXX post death.

X has more streams than Youngboy on YouTube as well

Drake had 3.03B YouTube streams past year to date, and X had 2.64B

X & Juice prolly were going to be the Drake & Cole of this generation though anyways

Edit: also x was not hot for a year or two. It’s been 5 years since he started getting hot, and 3 out of 5 of those years he’s been dead yet people still listen to his music like it’s the gospel

    Same was said about 50

....except he fell off after 2 albums

Maybe you're right but being as big as Drake is more about consistency and longevity than peaking high imho.

Thrift Shop and Trap Queen are bigger than any Drake songs not named God's Plan and The Heist almost outsold NWTS. But we see how Mack and Fetty both fumbled the opportunity to overtake Drake over time.

Case in point, there's no telling if XXX would've stayed consistently hot for more than 5 years in the mainstream if he still lived, especially with those domestic abuse charges lingering over him.

And forget Drake. XXX wasn't even bigger than Kendrick or Travis during that time. Kendrick went Platinum forreal in 2017 with DAMN in pure sales while ? didn't even sell 250,000 in pure sales even post death.

I didn’t say X was close to being bigger than drake

I said I think that if he stayed alive, then he eventually would’ve been able to be at least as big as him

Even if it took another decade
