I'm gonna shed the political reasons/ideology for a second.
Joining the military is a massive lifestyle change. If you're in the US, iirc you have to serve per your service obligation. You can't just up and quit when you feel like it. If you realize 6 months in that you're miserable and incredibly demoralized... tough s***
If your entire reasoning is just being bored and wanting to travel, just join like the Peace Corps or smth lol.
Wait but what happens if you decide to leave? Does it mean they can’t release you like legally?

It's called Desertion (or AWOL). You'd get discharged or court-martialed
No other job is going to give you benefits that good lol.
Damn, sorry. My comment might’ve been—and now that I think about it, was, in fact—ignorant; here, you get no benefits for “having served the country” whatsoever.

Where you from?
Where you from?
I’m from Poland. (At least, I’m not aware of any; might be wrong.)

You go AWOL, in which case they send out an arrest warrant for you. If you're still AWOL after 30 (?) days, you become a Deserter and it becomes grounds for a court martial.
air force never joined but seems like the most sane division of people lol
Space Force

How did you feel when Yachty took the wok over there?

Best thing to happen to Poland in ages. (Morawiecki’s still a cornball, though.)
I mean sure there are a ton of benefits to joining the military but if you just have wanderlust or "want to feel like missing home"...(the f***?) then maybe just move to a different city or coast? Feel like joining the army should be your last resort. Especially since s*** can probably be popping off in the near future.
Please stop going to ktt for actual advice everyone on here is radicalized and has nothing to offer you tbh
you should stop going to ktt full stop buddy
I think going to the army is a pretty extreme solution to wanting to experience the world and get out of your comfort zone. Have you thought about doing a working holiday visa in one of the countries that offers it?
There's also something like WWOOF, where you go and do work on an organic farm for room and board.
You could go be a counselor at an international summer camp, teaching English.
The world is pretty unstable and there's at least a decent probability that you'll see combat in the military.
As someone with two parents with PTSD from the military, your future kids and everyone else around you also suffers, to an extent. It's just something to think about before jumping into it.
If you do do a non combat job after basic training
imagine risking dying young for a bunch of old cacs
