I just saw this crazy performance of Kevin Love dropping 34pts in the 1rst quarter on Twitter: something I had never seen or knew of
And instantly I understood the greatness. It doesn’t matter that it is years old. We can understand and appreciate the greatness
Now think of music: when someone says “Man Biggie was the MAN back in the day, listen to THIS” and they play you a classic Big track, like Long Kiss Goodnight
There is a chance that the listener may NOT understand that greatness, because music is not as clear cut as something like basketball. Putting the ball in the hoop and scoring is definitive, but enjoying music is not
I see
Are we just going to ignore I’m the hottest 18 year old on KTT with an OnlyFans??
you could’ve just said sports has actual stats that result in a winner and loser while music does not
yeah ill be real a lot of the time when folks will post a statline screenshot and be like “carti on WLR” or something it usually the safest opinions ever and perpetuates some hivemind s***
but sometimes s*** is funny so who cares
The only way to truly be undeniable goat is to ball like Jordan and rap like Eminem

The only way to truly be undeniable goat is to ball like Jordan and rap like Eminem
Living through Em’s run was really crazy fr

😂😂
Sports are the one form of entertainment where greatness is concrete, measurable
Film, music, the product of conditioning by the powers that be. You can convince anyone that anybody is good musically. You can’t do that with sports
Your right in the sense that music or art in general is completely subjective
You can not say a piece of music/movie/art is objectively better than another piece because it’s all based on someones feelings and emotions
However the skill required to make certain pieces of art is not subjective. Someone can objectively be a better guitarist. Learning to do an amazing solo is something that takes skill and objectively I can’t say it’s better than someone just strumming random out of key notes with no rhythm. But I can objectively say that solo is harder to do and takes more skill
That same logic applies to rapping. Flows, rhymes, story telling, metaphors and entendres is something that takes practice and skill to get good at. And that’s the part people who like “real rapping” appreciate

Not exactly just because there could be a KLove level of performance like this one, and his team could still lose
Or there could be a player that always puts up great numbers but has 0 championships and always loses
Metaphorically speaking of course
Hakeem is the goat center ever

Yeah but players have their own individual stats tho that people use

But to me that’s like being a fan of Aaron Gordon’s crazy dunking ability
Yeah I can be a fan of how he did that insane jumping over the mascot dunk, but the fact of the matter is we will rarely get to see it because it doesn’t really help him win games
The point of ball is to win games, much like we will rarely see some extreme level of rapping or guitar solo because the point of music is to make great songs
Yeah but players have their own individual stats tho that people use
Right, but again with music it’s tough cause it’s almost impossible to objectify the feeling an artist gave you
Like we may never understand how Big L helped someone in Harlem survive
With sports you go to the stats and see “Damn, Magic Johnson was actually a great player”

“the point of music is to make great songs”
By your own logic that doesn’t make sense because there is no such thing as a great song, It’s all subjective
