He most likely seen alot of the writing on the wall within the industry. Same with Pimp C,they seen alot of s*** coming that we couldn't.

Real as hell for acknowledging this

  • Aug 19, 2023

If you can't spit you either need to make beats or have style

But even then, you can still do sellout s***. Doesn't invalidate your legendary status, but it can't be swept under the rug.

    That's all I'm tryna say @edumist @op @gnarlynasty

I like Travis because while he's not lyrical there's real passion and care into how he makes his music. You can tell he loves the craft and wants to make good music in unconventional ways and I respect that

Future and Thug did this at one point but they both took the easy route eventually. Hopefully Carti keeps it real because Yeat went overboard 15 minutes into his career

I mean, they had too see the future industry before anyone else, the way both Nas and Pimp were rapping during those days. Idk if they knew how labels wanted to kill the physical album and turn music into a cheap Golden Corral style buffet, but they knew some bullshit was approaching

I'd go on to say that Lil B is a better artist then most new acts now just cause of his self awareness of what he's trying to do with his music. Some of these guys now think that copying flows is art

Something @YoungNastyShawty said that doesnt get talked about is these rappers clique and managers not telling them to come harder or s*** is weak/burnt out, getting validation from the people you pay to be around you These a&r’s actually need blame too cause they the ones hoping some s*** blows up on tik tok

I actually wanna be in on more studio sessions to see if everybody is just a yes man

Funny enough cause I brought up a story about Pimp C telling Webbie that he wasn’t coming hard enough on these verses he was doing and Webbie going back in and re-recording

Its either that or (speaking from experience) niggas be literally wasting majority of the studio time getting high until like…the last hour.

But also lot of these new niggas punch in bars now. So niggas aint even be letting out full coherent sentences in the stu

I wouldn't call the Fortnite thing a sellout move only because of the context of the Pandemic. It made a lot of kids happy.

The McDonald's thing though, flagrant sellout s***. I can call it when I see it. But just like Jay is still a great artist despite his indiscretions, so is Trav in his own way

If I don't respond for a bit me and my girl playing Mario Kart I'll try to hop on in a few though lol

Which is why Nas's run rn is so special

Lil B when he knuckled down could also get by as a rapper and did carve his own lane. Can't deny he was unique, and making people laugh/satire is valid

Pimp C and Bun B were like father figures to Boosie and Webbie, and they weren't gonna let them be anything but great with them being attached to UGK. Trill Ent made a living off of representing street s***,for better or worse, but both Boosie and Webbie stayed to Pimp C by never totally commercializing themselves.

I think everytime Boosie did a major album,it was a distribution deal. How its suppose to be.

trav was actually the only one to actually take up after his potential with the jordan/nike collabs and s*** too can’t really call that sellout that’s everybody dream but his collabs in general actually fit his themes i can give him that it’s just funny knowing from the time astro dropped to now he had more collabs than music lmao but igy

Another thing too,I always believed in great artistry,no matter what angle its coming from, but it has to be great. Lil B showed he could be interesting and thought provoking with Im Gay,all the rest of him mixtapes were fun, quirky and all over the place but still were self aware enough to feel like real thought was put into it.

Lil B always had the capacity to make a classic album using his style cause he was first and foremost,a great artist.

they doing that s*** thug does, which looks tiring for the average producer tbh. i don’t think a lot of them even get say in how they should be coming at all anymore

Mainstream Entertainment in general is cooked whether it be film, music or video games. There’s a common denominator in all of them

It's okay to do commercial s***. I don't want every rapper to be some dusty b-boy lmao. But there's a difference between a sneaker collab and campaigning for the f***ing Clintons lmfao

Like a Fortnite concert during a pandemic no less is just cute fun. I don't knock Ice Cube for doing movies either

    Making s***ty crunk music though

I'm Gay(I'm Happy) perplexed critics but they couldn't deny that it was a great piece of art. He chose his debut to do a 180,I'll always respect Lil B for that
