    What is a technical rapper?

  • Dec 17, 2019

Earl is great but he’s only overrated by people because of the pedestal he’s placed on, people emotional attachment and their lack of knowledge. A good amount of his fans have loved him since they were kids (Earl included). So they want to see him succeed and they consider him the greatest at what his strongest trait his pen.

He’s far from trash tho he’s in an elite class of rappers a lot of people just refuse to acknowledge he’s not alone in it

He is however his focus on speed and weaker albums don't help his case.

Coulda said, Black Thought, Pharoah Monch, Ras G, Ghostface, Prodigy. That's more of the "elite" lineage

I chose the person I heard most recently. u right. It doesn't really damage my point that there are a lot of technical rappers still.

    it gotta be said bro.

not really. Not a very strong comparison and doesn’t really add anything to any conversation.

Earls kinda like a mumble songwriter. It’s a sound lots of people are starting to explore, and he’s really openly leading the whole movement. Mike, mavi, hommy, Lucki sometimes. It’s like he’s fathering a whole sub genre, and j cole isnt close to doing anything like that.

see. I honestly think earl is not leading that movement. because SRS is a product of him hanging around those sLUm niggas. and at the same time most of the new production they're creating is "grandfathered" in by Madlib. Whatever they've released so far just isn't different enough for me to say "WOW that's something new."

the only song that completely hit me like that is nowhere2go.
and even then you can look at standing on the corner and knxwledge for something similar.

he did father lucki tho. but in the weirdest of ways because lucki is on some completely other s***.

J.Cole is doing something close to putting new people on with J.I.D. and Earthgang and the results of that have yet to be seen.

he's a terrible example. Not to mention a 20 year vet. I thought we were referring to this decade's rappers.

sLums members are all directly impacted by Earl to begin with. Him seeing other young niggas what he was on to start just inspired him to essentially make the best project in that vein.

Also shout out to Alchemist, RZA, Blu who also are the father's. Roc Marci honorable mention
