It’s pretty irrelevant relative to the top 10 of all time list
Like…some ppl don’t even know what those squad tapes are. No one thought he was going to sniff Top 10 status based on where his career was projected to go at that time
I’ll give you that but the squad up tapes were pre-carter 1
Every since Tha Carter 1 and the soldier feature with Destiny’s Child and T.I. around that same time the majority of niggas who cared about rap been tapped in
I remember C1 era like it was yesterday
My family came down south summer 04 to visit relatives and my cousin was bumping that s*** heavily. I’m from South Jersey so I was into Cassidy at that time. Where I’m from we considered him the nicest nigga out at that time because he was one of the first rappers to really master going bar for bar with the punchlines. He was like Big L on steroids to us.
I remember my cuz saying Wayne was better and I thought he was out of his f***ing mind. We legit argued about it for a second because I could not fathom how the same nigga who was talking bout wobble-d-wobble-d on Back That Ass Up was some how in the same league as one of the hottest underground street rappers in the game.
He pressed play and I haven’t looked back since. Also immediately stopped listening to Cassidy like that. Came back home to Jersey and everybody was already on it. Them first two Carter albums and the mixtapes released around that time was something special bro. Don’t sleep.
I know this a long ass post but f*** it
No absolutely not
Ye not eligible, too poor as an MC. And really Kendrick and drake ain’t making it either
even if i find it amusing when NY oldheads saying jadakiss top 5
if jada kiss is mentioned then DMX comes before him by default lol
No DMX or T.I
Yh miss me wit it, same list everytime, coz people shut scared of saying someone that isn't 2pac or biggie
Swap out Andre 3k for Ice Cube I’d say otherwise great list. (Not that Andre is bad but Cube has one of the best three album runs in rap history)

Kanye ain’t even the weakest rapper on the list skill wise
I think Pac is even tho I love his music and the substance behind his s***
And why no Drake and Kendrick? Just because they are the youngest mentioned don’t mean they ain’t qualified. They got stronger resumes and catalogs than anybody not on this list easily if we being real

Ye never rapped better than Can’t C Me without writers
Cube over Kendrick
Rakim mandatory
Scarface also
You left out Rakim, Eazy-E, 50, Ice Cube. Dre should be up there if we're including Ye who writes as much as him. Your list is definitely biased but we're all entitled to our opinion

That ghostwriter s*** is irrelevant to me
All that s*** be speculation which I feel like is hoe s***. Unless you was there in the studio how can you speak on what went down or didn’t? How do you know for sure that rappers you respect never got ghost written for? It’s all chatty patty s*** imo. All I know is the end result is fire and Kanye has some verses that will put the best of them to sleep ong. Nigga ran Hov all over WTT spitting nothing but pure flames.
As far as Cube and Scarface go I love those guys definitely top 20 if not top 15 guys but come on now bredren when history look back on this rap s*** you really think they albums/singles gonna be more remembered and revered than Kendrick and Drake? Stop it
You entitled to your opinion and if you rank them higher personally that’s wussup but universally nah scrap

All those are great rappers but they resume as hip-hop artist don’t measure up to anyone on that list
They top 20-15ers

Nah this the issue
You’re incorporating outsiders opinions into the “objective” thing when the only ranking that matters is within a hip hop perspective. If we’re going ultra objective then Nas doesn’t belong based on your points, he didn’t impact mainstream culture nearly as much as the other names
Ice Ice Baby is more remembered than any Scarface song so you have that same energy in that case?
Ice Cube on the other hand had F*** the Police, Today Was A Good Day, and others that were more impactful than any Kendrick song

The way I see it it’s about balance. The opinions of Hardcore Hip-Hop enthusiasts shouldn’t dominate the conversation any more than casuals. It’s the artist that wins over both that is most legendary imo. Nas had plenty of commercial success and memorable moments that impacted casuals so it’s not like he’s just some completely underground rapper just because he’s a lyricist lol.
Face and Cube had success as well so again def not knocking those brothers but Drake and Kendrick had and are still having a stronger impact than either of them had.
With Face it’s not even close and again I fw Face, very strong catalog top 5 southern rapper oat for sure.
With Cube I could see it tbh NWA plus his legendary solo career so you couldn’t go wrong putting him up there fr. I just personally think S80 GKMC TPAB and DAMN rocked the culture much harder than Amerikkas Most Wanted, Death Certificate, The Predator, etc. Same for Drake with SFG, TC, NWTS, & IYRTITL
The Drake and Kendrick projects far more revered
Also I agree F*** The Police, A Good Day etc are landmark hip-hop songs and it’s hard to compete with that but I’d argue that the quantity of legendary songs on Drake and Kendrick’s part more than compensates
