This s*** is horrible
Sampling some of the most popular songs ever is just so lazy
No 🧢
there are better examples than lil tjay
@NeonBuddy would love to hear your thoughts
i wouldn't say that the music itself is bad but i think that the trend is lazy and lowkey detrimental to the emergence of sample drill. the appeal of these songs is " thats the song ik but its drill now " which is fine in theory but in practice, it either sacrifices the feeling that drill provides or the drill elements don't enhance the sample. i think sample drill flips are done best when it keeps the drill energy and/or the drill elements add to the sample. here are some songs that i think do that right
for the uninitiated

I hate this
Sampling 2000s songs is becoming normal the way sampling 80s/90s was common back in the day.
Lowkey makes me feel old
I was thinking bout sampling this 2012 track when I thought damn this would be 10 years old now
Which imo is just enough time removed to be a goof time to use it
sounds good to me 🤷♀️ppl always gna do remixes
way better than "edm trap"/dub/(bro)step remixes we used to get
grass isnt always greener

Lowkey makes me feel old
same but its the circle of life . kinda beautiful ...i mean it's inevitable either way
Lazy? That’s been hiphop for 40 something years ain’t nothing lazy about it…everything can’t be a simple trap beat
If only the ones who did it nicely had more views
!https://youtu.be/mJ6iYgHklNYI think it’s a bad trend as well
but if you want to sign over all your royalties for a hit song go ahead.
this just makes me think of that horrible black eyed peas song that sampled Rhythm of the Night
tjay comes across as a square
didn't they beat him up in the uk too?
