Sampling 2000s songs is becoming normal the way sampling 80s/90s was common back in the day.
Lowkey makes me feel old
Oh damn hold up I’m aging
I’m not anti sampling at all
Sampling is incredible
I’m anti the nostalgia farming and lazy sampling of incredibly popular songs to create some base level of recognition for the listener
It’s just detrimental to creativity
I think u gotta understand some of these artists r considerably younger than you and even that 5 year diffeeence in age changes their perception of how ubiquitous the sound is, even if they know those acts were famous.. they r that much further in time from the sampled artist’s heyday

A lot of these rappers like Saweetie ain't even sampling. They're just straight rapping over the same beat
The sun 🌞 goes down⬇️
my zoot🍃comes up ⬆️
smoke a 3️⃣.5️but it still ain’t enough🚮🙅🏼
get it out my head
Fax, and now Glamourous...
S*** is such a weak move, especially if you gonna let the sample carry you
i feel like shawny executes it correctly

Tjay f***ing sucks
I respect the sampling that took place in the 90s and 00s of turning old R&B and soul records into hip-hop songs way more than this current trend. Taking an old rap song and making it a new rap song seems so much more lazy.

Nigga this was done in the ‘90s too
With songs that were literally years old
A lot of breakout rap hits were literally that lmao
I’m agree with you to a point but saying it’s a “trend” is just wrong
there's definitely been a big uptick in the last 2ish years tho hasn't there?
