    Quality over quantity though

They managed to give us both for the most part

Outside of Magic 2, I think each project deserved to be released

Magic 2 was good too. Not a classic or anything, but a rock solid album. Worth being released but just wasn't one of the highlights of the run, same with KD1

Nas really has classics in four consecutive decades

Because did we really need all 6 projects lol. Take the best songs from kd 2 and kd 3 and u got an amazing project.

Do the same for magic 1 and 3 and throw magic 2 away besides what this all really mean and another amazing project (magic 1 could probably stand by itself, but u get the point)

I like all the projects to a degree beside M2, but I'll be lying if I said I revist 90% of the songs that came out from the series or even the complete albums

    Long post sorry

This just reads as some lowkey entitlement and being overly critical or something

Just cause you’re not going to play all of them in full all the time personally doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have dropped, you’re saying yourself that they’re all good besides one so why wouldn’t they be worthy of release? To cater to people like you who want less music?

This is like perfection being the enemy of the great

From 2020 to present they gave us a bunch of moments when most artists haven’t been dropping much. That alone is dope.

In a collab project like this its actually good to keep working on more albums, you can tell they found their zone more and more, it was a steady growth and a cool arc to watch imo.

If they didn’t release all of them then some of them probably wouldn’t exist

Like you can’t really take the beat songs from KD3 and KD2 together because they wouldn’t have made KD3 if not for the energy and reception continued from KD2, it was all a continuous process of being on a run. It’s like a classic evolution of a band, you make an album, put it out there, gauge response, then go back in for the next. It made for an amazing evolution here imo and I feel you’re being overly critical of some really dope s***. This obsession with perfection is the reason why people like Kendrick waste their primes releasing nothing. It’s an unrealistic and overrated standard to focus on this idea of releasing as little as possible in the name of keeping some perception of perfection

This is the best run from a producer and rapper ever and you saying in retrospect “we didn’t need 6 albums” while all other rappers besides Drake spend the 2020s in hibernation lol foh respectfully. This s*** raises the bar for rappers and that alone is another reason why this was very necessary. I definitely needed all these and Nas career did too. No one gonna care if Nas drops one perfect album tbh, it took 6 great ones to get people to take notice and give his legacy a huge boost

Like someone itt said, just the FEAT of it alone bro, just the fact they did this is amazing and legendary, I don’t get being dismissive of that historic achievement just because you won’t revisit much personally

I love the fact that they treated the final installments like the f***ing The Return of The King, KD3 and Magic 3 are definitely the best.

It puts it in perspective when you realize not many rappers have released 6 consecutive projects better than these at any age. What 6 album runs are there that can compare outside of Kanye’s?

Exactly, that’s why the whole run and build up was worth it IMO. Great experience

It has nothing to do with entitlement lol. You asked me, MY own opinion of why I think the series ran too long and I gave you the reason why I feel that way.

No I'm saying that a good portion of the songs that dropped from them are decent, but I wouldn't lose sleep if they never dropped at all.

You're right to a degree, about it being a continuous process of being on a run. But it's pretty clear the sessions for all these albums overlap to a huge degree before they even released. It's already confirmed KD3 was being worked on while Magic was, and Magic 2 while KD3 was being worked on. And the only way they're gonna be able to have as quick of a turnaround as they did was by working on them simultaneously.

I actually appreciate artists being more prolific with dropping music, which is why Ye gets more praise from me for doing his first 7 in 12 years than Kendrick doing 5 in 11 years. It's not like I'm saying only dropped 1 collab per 2 year, I just said they probably could of condensed the series into 3 albums and it would of been more memorable with better overall bodies of work.

It didn't take 6 for people to notice, people noticed after the first one, which had the most buzz around it. People stop caring at Magic because it started feeling overwhelming. I already said I appreciate him doing the run, but I PERSONALLY didn't need all of them, I didn't say anyone else had to feel that way.

  • The only album out of the 6 he dropped that I genuinely thought wasn’t good was Magic 2. But Magic 1, KD3, Magic 3 and KD2 were all great albums. KD1 pales a little compared to them buts it’s still good for being the first of them all and ironing the kinks out.

Legendary run for Nas and the best kind of exposure for Hit-Boy. A win win for both.

Nas deserves to take 2-3 years off if he wants to, although I have a feeling the latest he’ll be back is 2025.
