basically, the little tweets and offhand comments you see on twitter from other black people (mainly black women and gay men) about black men being violent, the weakest links, hateful, etc. will only grow in time and white people will soon jump on it

we're kinda seeing a new wave of dehumanization of the black man and black intellectuals as well as feminists are leading the way

s*** like this is extremely dangerous but it's treated as if it was a joke or something you should ignore

this news story imo is the best representation of what's going on right now. look at the headline and picture.

It's in the first picture I posted but I think it deserves its own post itt since it summarizes what's going on right now: "The consequence of the growth of a Black intellectual class in the university and society more generally was a distancing from the condition of poor young Black males, and ultimately an endorsing of the phobic-inspired lens of whites who viewed Black males more generally as dangerous, violent and anti-woman"

Through a characterization of the black man (that is NOT based on facts!!) as a backward oppressor, this new class of black intellectuals in the women's and LGBTQ circles are legitimizing some dangerous thoughts against black men as a whole (including gay black men ironically).

I'm gonna start this book and I'd appreciate if some of y'all could read it with me. If you're down, just quote me itt and I'll set a schedule for the reading and we'll go through it together while discussing it here.

The cool thing about nuance is that both things can be true

One thing I noticed that is never talked about is the normality of child abuse among black boys getting their ass whopped by their mothers, which I'd imagine would give off some trauma that is generally normalized, and the fact that black women can often perpetuate homophobia/transphobia (which, ironically talking so much s*** on black men could be considered transphobic, but that's another discussion) that sorta enables it on a wide scale in our community.

That being said, a lot of "pro black" movements that tend to be more nationalistic do try to be gatekeepers and tend to be dismissive of black LGBT/women's experiences, so it's not like it's coming from outta nowhere.

My perspective too. Very unfortunate because it creates unnecessary division in an already fragmented movement.

The only way I keep my sanity is by constantly reminding myself that the black women on social media don’t represent black women in real life

Really people with outlandish and discriminatory opinions are usually the loud minorities. Tbh I feel this applies to many other groups too

Y'all are starting to sound just like those losers that are constantly b****ing about women and that think they're being persecuted. The best thing you can do is ignore all these bitter, hateful people and whatever narrative they're trying to push and go about your day. Stop obsessing over miserable people on the internet and giving them the attention they want.
