If you're not credited as a featured or co-lead artist on a song by the artist/record label of the lead artist on a song, you don't get an RIAA certification and it's like you were never on the song to begin with. Same goes for every other award show and even the Grammys. Only the AOTY/SOTY/ROTY awards acknowledge writers/producers. Other awards don't. They just acknowledge the artist and that's it.

That's only if the artist/label of the artist decides to do that.
On the RIAA website right now, Work by Rihanna feat. Drake is certified 9x Platinum and is only credited to Rihanna. Drake won't be officially credited unless Rihanna herself or her label requests to have his name added and he won't get a plaque unless they request so. Songs/albums only get certified at the request of a label and it comes with a fee.
The RIAA doesn't give out plaques to just anyone. The plaques cost money so if the label doesn't offer to pay to get it made for all the songwriters/producers, they never get made. That's how it works.
