Hell no. Astroworld will never be as timeless as Graduation

It’s the 5th highest streamed rap album of all time on Spotify, and I’m sure it’s one of the most streamed rap albums ever on all platforms I just don’t have the exact stats.

People ages like 17-25 genuinely love that album

To me it’s Drake, Kendrick Cole
Then Travis, Uzi, Carti (21/Yak honorable)

To me the rappers who are really having the game on their backs rn is Drake Kendrick Travis and Tyler

Theres a bunch of other people killing it but those are the 4 that everything stops for me when they drop

    Fw ur list too

The comparison makes sense, its not that Astro is as good or important as Grad but

-Third album that took them from a rap star to a superstar
-More accessible colorful and bright than the previous two albums
-Career defining albums followed by tragedy

They play similar roles in their respective careers

    100%.

Rap fans like 17-25 right now will look back at Astroworld in 15/20 years like rap fans who were 17-25 in 2007 look back at Graduation now

One of my favorite pockets on the album, don’t know what the hell he’s talking about that whole verse but it sounds incredible

    100%.

Yeah I was in high school when Astroworld dropped, my senior year

S*** was so crazy I definitely personally view it as a classic and I think a lot of people my age would

Its not better or as good as Grad but I 100% see the comparison

We’re talking in relative terms though.

No one’s saying it’s a better album than Graduation, but relatively speaking, what it was for rap music and rap fans in 2018 was the same thing that Graduation was for rap music and rap fans in 2007.

I’m not sure how old you are, but every rap fan I know who’s around my age (21) absolutely adores that album and still plays it to this day

Sicko Mode was big but Stronger was the biggest song in every continent back when Graduation dropped

Kanye was on another dimension at that time

What’s Cole’s last album that was better than any of Travis & Tyler’s projects since 2018? Forest Hills Drive?

We talking best album or overall impact on the game? Cause Cole had 100k pull up to North Carolina year Offseason dropped and if he did a full tour we’d be discussing Offseason as one of the biggest hiphop tours

And to me, The Offseason was amazing, a very stellar album that showed once again Cole can rap and self produce at a high level that’s very accepted by his fans, peers and overall scene, from critical reviews to every day person

That’s very true but music/art was way more monocultural in 2007 than it was in 2018, and even now.

It’s a lot less rare nowadays for songs to be something that literally everybody on planet Earth knows. Look at the top 10 on the Hot 100 right now and you’ll see what I mean.

Also, like others are saying, Sicko Mode is absolutely massive as well

Bro Sicko Mode is diamond i feel like ur downplaying how big it was a little bit

Nobody is saying Astro was as big or good as Grad, we’re just saying Astro plays the same role in Travis career that Grad played in Ye’s

The Big 3 is just our generation’s Pac/Biggie from the 90s. People our age who came up on 2010s music will never put another 2010s rapper in the same breath as them, even if they deserve to be in the conversation.

I think guys like Travis and Tyler surpassed Cole a very long time ago

    True.

Plus it's annoying to me that Pac & Biggie are like seen as the face of traditionalist, conventional "real hip hop" Cuz if you actually go back and listen to them and look at them and then their peers from that decade they weren't safe at all.

Pac switched up aesthetics and personalities with each major album rollout. One of the first rappers to get tattoos and nose rings, he was excellent at branding, branched out into movie deals and s*** like that.

Biggie was one of the first dudes to rap over R&B samples and helped bridge the gap between the two genres, created the whole Frank White persona etc.

That is not that much different than what dudes are doing today, everybody just took the wrong lessons from them lol
