There's definitely a caveat to "embracing the machine" in that it has to be in a social context. The father blocks her out with the radio. The surrogate father invites her into dance, to experience physical bond. The same with their fight versus how she saw violence before as an indistinct social relation.

I took it as being more than that,
    SPOILER

the last shot made me think of the last shot of 2001 where the Star Child is floating by earth representing the nrct evolution of humans. In a similar sense, the successful birth of the baby here represents technologically improved humans becoming a part of society.

I don't think the film moralizes that much. It's more like, do you fight something bigger than yourself which you can't stop? He thinks about turning his back. Or do you guide it and nurture it? Regardless, the old way dying is painful. Change is painful. It's not as flat as "bad" or "good". The film encompasses reaction as well like the tribal mosh with the French flag. She feels better in that space but it's holding her back. The reaction to her transcending the structure that helped her. The death of the old ways. I think Ducournau did a great job of just going from action to reaction and how we internalize and synthesize. It's a brilliant description more than a prescription.

I dont he was ever really going to abandon her

I agree the description is brilliant but id say how you describe neccesarily prescribes.

On another note, did you pick up any religious undertones?

He has doubt. He's just been changed by Alexis, the same way he changed her. He attempts to kill himself right before. He's clearly on the brink of rejecting the future on its aesthetic alone.

The film shows transhumanism downfalls. Actual gore. The steroids. It's not prescribing something as "good", but describing it and showing how we navigate it internally and interpersonally.

Again, back to aesthetic. The flaming Cadillac impregnates her with divine intervention. The surrogate dad calls himself god and her jesus. She births the "anti-christ". But that's just aesthetic. Like with what dance the firemen consider adequate social expression. Or your gender. Or being muscular or not. The content and use matters. So the baby doesn't actually have to be the anti-christ. The anti-christ is doom. This baby is the future. Doom was him lighting himself on fire literally

There's also something to her being impregated by the fire cadillac and him being a fireman, lighting himself on fire, her f\*\*\*ing a firetruck, him seeing doom int the fire. It's not the death. It's a Phoenix. The future rises from the death of the present. It's scary, but it's not evil inherent.

Is this movie kinda wild with its story structure and a lot going on? Or pretty conventional and easy to follow

It’s the most straightforward movie about a woman f***ing a car you’ll ever see.

I still liked RAW better but I did love it, and I’ve been waiting years for the follow up. Easy to see when a director is just naturally talented and you can rightfully have high expectations. Probably will end up my movie of the year but I still need to see ‘We’re All Going To The World’s Fair’ which I believe might be the best film this year
