Tyler always been corny but idk why I find this nigga the most intolerable and corniest he’s ever been at point in his career. He was so against cars, jewelry and fashion for no apparent reason and now he just looks like a caricature of himself and someone he would’ve made fun of profusely back then.
He was an annoying stain on the face of hip-hop all throughout his career but now that he thinks of himself as this serious auteur he’s mad that he doesn’t have his own people behind him but truth is he’s the same one who acted like he didn’t care if we we’re on his side to begin with and kinda indulged in it.
in his defense, he admitted that s*** was a defense mechanism.
But that's like...a self fulfilling prophecy. You do all this stuff for years creating a bad first impression for the people you really do deep down really want and now they don't want you because of things you said back then.
And while yes, a lot of black legends in our genre have said far worse things and perpetuated worse things than Tyler ever did, @FREE, Tyler never had a Fireman or a Milli. That nigga Wayne is one of the biggest coons ever. But that ain't gonna ever take away that nigga is still one of the most influential and greatest rappers in our genre.
And as great as Tyler is, he ain't "Sky's The Limit" great. It's way easier to pretty much say "I hate black women" as a rapper and still be in the good graces of "hip hop audiences" when you have s*** like C2, Dedication 2, or C3 to fall back on. I don't think that means niggas is lost cause it ain't like niggas WASN'T killing him and 50 for that s*** they said on his podcast. Wayne just gave us too many classics to discard him like that.
You say we not a monolith but fail to mention that we can acknowledge both of these aspects of artists.
To be fair
I’ve never heard any barber shop play DJ Khaled music unless the radio was just on
Every chance that I get is definitely getting played in barbershops
Khaled is 100% more down than Tyler & that’s not a knock Tyler’s always mostly been for Cacs and c***adjacents
You can do the baiting but when you open it it’s clear I hate trump. Go cash in your likes clown
that just says more about how hilariously musically unintelligent we've gotten.
Cause most of Childish Gambino's music is just derivative of funk/70s joints.
Thats just one album Lol BTI derirative of WHO?
DJ khaled is a non black artist in rap. This is where my discourse on him begins and ends.
To be fair....Niggas wasn’t playing him in the barbershop
Niggas not playing khaled either
in his defense, he admitted that s*** was a defense mechanism.

Bet
“I make albums so people can play it and you actually hear it,” Khaled wrote two years ago in a post he’s since deleted. “You know, driving your car, you hear another car playing it. You know, go to the barbershop, you hear them playing it. You know, turn the radio on, and you hear them playing it. It’s called great music. It’s called albums that you actually hear the songs. Not no mysterious s*** that you never hear it.”
More likely he meant mysterious as in homosexual which is against the religious guidelines of Islam
But I doubt that, dude just wanted #1 and cried when his latest album got it after being disappointed that the one before didn't.
bro what
This is a good post and I think you and op both have accurate post but barbershops is not just a hangout and absolutely implies blackness is in the discussion, also tyler is way weirder than kanye and stevie wonder, whats even weird about stevie wonder?
Other than that good post
Tyler weirder in his humor and whatever, but music wise Kanye def been more experimental and even as a person you could call him "weirder", but it would mostly be because of his mental health so i wouldnt even wanna call it that tbh it's kinda tasteless
