op kinda got a point lol
khaled did lowkey imply "ur music is not black enough"
and ppl gonna say "but tyler does make white boy music"
to which i say wtf does skin color have to do w music. Yes, bc of racism, people of the same skin color (at least in america) ended up in segregated communities which each developed their own unique cultures. now we associate those cultures w the most prominent skin color in those communities. "black culture", "white culture", etc.
the important thing to understand is that, while racism is real, and the concept of race has very real effects on people, there is no philosophical basis behind the idea that race even inherently exists. the only reason we care abt skin color is bc of humans that lived long before we were born. It's not bc there are some inherent traits that everyone w the same skin color has...
ik this seems like a tangent but my point here is, classifying music as "black music" and "white music" is just another way that bizarre (and false) concept of race presents itself in our society. playing into that and embracing that is only feeding into the concept of race, and by extension racism.
I've never seen anybody break this down before, but i think its something most people innately understand. It's why "urban music" (just another way for ppl to say black music) is such a weird term to ppl. its why so many ppl understood why tyler was complaining abt IGOR being a "rap" album at the grammys.
I’ve never heard Tyler in a barbershop so
i never heard yb in a barbershop so ima blow em all up

he didnt say black enough, he said he makes music people listen to in social situations.
i know he didnt say that
i said he implied that
the reason i think it was implied is aptly explained in OP
if u need clarification u can ask specific questions
Calling people the n-word with the hard r will do that lol
I said it in the other thread and I'll say it here I wish yall would stop pretending his statements were the issue.
I find it funny Mhaled was out here letting nigga fly for years as an Arab man and his past isn't brought to but Tyler's is and he was younger.
All khaled said was niggas actually listen to music in the outside world @op kinda reaching rn
man is obsessed with mysterious music
It’s been a minute since I heard the rant tho so I might be missing if he said some sneak s***
man is obsessed with mysterious music
Mysterious s*** got it’s place, to this day I ain’t heard WLR outside
All khaled said was niggas actually listen to music in the outside world @op kinda reaching rn
If you don't see why he said barbershop then idk what to say.
It's facts. Tyler makes mysterious music black people who grew up in rap culture, don't particularly listen to. Tyler still a talented artist. People say the same sht bout tons of artists. Eminem, Earl, underground sht, danny brown, etc.
If a black person made it then its black music
yep exactly lol
black music should mean exactly this and nothing more
If you don't see why he said barbershop then idk what to say.
Bro a barbershop a pretty good litmus of what niggas fw
Its slot of other convos that can be branched out of post ITT and this Tyler situation.
The whole "Tyler use to he anti black" excuse needs to stop too cause it never stopped yall from letting Wayne live and his anti blackness was worse.
Mysterious s*** got it’s place, to this day I ain’t heard WLR outside
nigga you must be inside beating your meat or something cause i hear sky all the time outside
smh so we gonna pretend Tyler dont make music for a niche group of white nerds who have a lot of money to buy music in mass?
White people listen to trap too buddy

That’s why I get both sides
Because Tyler does leave out how weird he used to act and the dumb s*** he used to say sometimes when he goes on these rants but at the same time niggas act like thats the ONLY reason he was written off when really i knew a lot of people who didnt even care about the offensive s*** he said they just thought it was some white people s***
