It’s wild if someone from here really invented that and didn’t copyright it

Someone gon use that title for a movie Or some s*** one day. Lol think about it

through a quick search you can find use of the term on ktt1 back in early 2014, but it could date back even earlier on there. I joined 2014 and searching for ktt1 threads is a b**** and a half lmao

I'm not saying it does, but isn't it weird when a random artist just suddenly gets hyped outta nowhere then suddenly they have 1 million to 30 million youtube video views in a month

it may be, but the same thing happened back in the day when certain artists always had a great team to push them. When Lady gaga first came out, she came out of nowhere and became arguably THE biggest pop star at the time. She just came out and boom! Same with Alicia Keys. She released Fallin and it shot up the charts and everyone knew who she was. A few of my cousins told me it seemed like her name was almost bigger than her actual music when she first came out. That's just the type of push certain labels give to certain artists.

industry plant not a KTT term. Go outside

genuinely, if you can find proof of it being used in 2013 outside of ktt1 then ill gladly change the wording in op

    Exactly

    Industry backed

It’s like Khalid. Label found Location liked it, signed him openly and pushed the song
To your average person location came outta nowhere
But he never pretended he wasn’t on a label. The label just did their job and got the song out to an audience who then carried it up the charts

Would Billie Eilish be an industry plant or not?

In the past few years, industry-plant chatter has moved from the Web's anonymous corners into mainstream discourse.

Hip-hop message boards provided fertile soil for this theory throughout the 2010s. I've found threads dating back as far as 2012 where people are arguing on the hip-hop boards at the Coli and IGN about who might be an industry plant.

ayo it might be a ktt term

even if it has an earlier origin, it wasnt being used anywhere publicly until complex in 2015 maybe late 2014

yet you can find countless ktt1 threads from early 2014 using it

and we all know where complex sources from

nah she's been on a label the whole time

she's both industry backed and industry connected though

her parents are both in the media industry iirc

Industry Plant: signed to a label but pretending not to be signed and the come up to be organic

Industry Pushed: getting a strong push from the label via playlists and radio - think Khalid

Industry Connected - family/connections in the industry - think Clairo

    3 different things
    industry plants are not common

S***ttt way more common than you think

"It’s difficult to pinpoint the first use of the phrase, but it seems to have emerged through message board culture at the start of the 2010s. A thread on the influential forum KanyeToThe from 2012 posits that everyone from Waka Flocka Flame to Lil Wayne to 50 Cent was an industry plant, albeit without any evidence."

I honestly never cared. I think some fans may feel betrayed or lied too, but celebs lie or tell only part of the truth to protect their image all the time
