    Nothing is forced there

The protests are happening over material concerns due in part to US sanctions imposed on it. OP omits all of that for dictator vagaries. It's the western obfuscation of imperialism.

Whatever man. Your OP and title are bereft of any context. Fix it or don't. Not my section.

The context is in the timeline of the events. Your ego blinds you from seeing what's happening around you. Stop taking religious beliefs so seriously, you dont have to support something just because it has a islamic prefix attached to it. Those clerics are full of s*** and preach bullshit to line their pockets.

Here's an article that talks about COVID, drought, US sanctions that raised fuel prices, the protesters, the security forces, the response from the Ayatollah, etc. It's a little bit more nuanced than "islam bad".

Thanks for the article it was an ok read. However it didnt dive deep into the issue and simply said iran is going through a draught even though the rivers have been drying up for years now due to mismanagement of water, building inappropriate dams and redirecting water to benefit Qom city (religious city where the ayatollahs university).

Iran's government has destroyed Iran's ecosystem and people are sick of it plus a dozen more reasons. That's why protests happen.

And to your other remark; yes, islam is bad when it is mixed with politics. An islamic estate is bad because in it Mullahs get to rule, so only their families, friends and like minded supporters get a chance to prosper. Same goes with any other ideology! only twisted people would want the pope as their president!

its funny when you realize this imperialists ^ opposition to the iranian government is not due to any sort of real support for human rights and wanting for the better of the people in Iran, but simply a longing for a returning of the Shah lmaoo. get a grip

  • The Iranian regime probably has a degree of unpopularity where a large segment of these protests genuinely want an end to Islamist Theocracy

That doesn't mean they want to be American lap dogs either

You’re asking me to get a grip?

Please take your head out of your f***ing ass, mate.

I would wish for the equivalent of Mossadegh to come up and have any chance to lead Iran to an actual better state of living but with the election restrictions imposed by the Islamic Regime it is virtually impossible. You don’t seem to understand that yes, some revolutions are good, and while kicking out the Shah seemed to be a good idea on paper with what Khomeini was promising, he didn’t deliver on any of his promises at that time and turned out to be a f***ing bandit, and the time of the Islamic Regime will be over the more generations pass. Older generations are telling the young that revolution is pointless because of how it all turned out, and the younger people who protest and are unhappy have the balls to stand up for themselves and others.

The difference between the Shah and the regime is that the Shah at least cared for the people and had a sense of loyalty to the country. He may have been s*** to your eyes but clearly not to several actual Iranians.

I’m not someone who wants the country to revert back to monarchy, I want someone who isn’t a f***ing tyrant to rule.

The symbolism of the Shah holds great meaning in Iran, and to have the Pahlavis return just to live, and not hold any sort of power in Iran is enough by itself as long as theocracy is done and actual democracy takes place in the form of a leader like Mossadegh.

Go eat some f***ing rocks you putrid piece of human garbage. Nobody f***ing likes you.

Lol here you go again. I, nor anyone else, has ever said the iranian revolution was "good" or that the current Iranian government is anything close to ideal.

It's just simple fact that you stay in here supporting imperialism and talking up the Shah, who was himself a piece of garbage.

But guess what, there will never be a leader like Mossadegh for Iran, and if you had any semblance of a clue about anything you'd understand why. Why would the US allow that? they and the british already disposed him once lmao. If there's ever another revolution in Iran you can best believe it aint gonna be prop up some f***ing symbolism of the Shah and it damn sure aint gonna install western democracy

Who says there needs to be a leader? If it aint gonna be western democracy then what is it gonna be ?eastern democracy?

I think you are misunderstood, no one in iran is chanting for a monarchy. The so called prince himself who hasnt worked a day in his life isnt interested, his dad wasnt even really interested either near the end he had cancer and just wanted to f*** off and die....

People are literally chanting they don’t want an Islamic Regime.

The islamic regime has been in charge for decades. The protests are happening because conditions are worsening. There's a sizable distance between popular preference and popular resistance. It takes a lot of suffering to get to the latter. The people of Iran will decide for themselves what changes.

If regime change turns them into accomplices of the west, democratic or not, their suffering will go unreported. This unrest voyeurism will shift to China or Cuba or whatever geopolitical enemy is convenient. It won't be Turkey. It won't be Singapore. It won't be in America where protesters shot with rubber coated bullets and smothered with chemical weapons are demonized on the news.

i agree with you profoundly that this has come about from ever worsening conditions

but it does remain that the Ayatollah's regime has not always commanded the confidence of a landslide majority of iranians

im not saying any kind of cheering for anyone is justified, you can see an earlier comment of mine for my take, but it is questionable the extent to which the regime was liked by iranians in the first place

It has less than nothing to do with me or you. Lift the sanctions. End the proxy wars. Address vaccine inequality. These are the topics that Americans, and NATO allies, who want to alleviate the suffering of Iranians should be interested in. Not cheerleading civil war. The moment Iran becomes accommodating to the west we will hear no more of their suffering.

I'm not cheerleading civil war and I agree with those policies

Even if we did all those things, I'm not sure discontent with the theocratic regime would end. We should do every single one of those things. If anything, ending sanctions would probably accelerate the fall of the regime as strongman do better when theres an outside enemy
